I have a Blue Triad that I'm having troubles with my race wheels on. My Reynolds Aero 90 back wheel will not clear the current back brake. The back brake is extended to the max. Anyone else have issues with this on the Blue Triad?

I did when I changed to 25mm tires.
I remedied this by getting a TriRig Omega brake. On first fit, the tire was rubbing against the brake bridge (is that what it's called?) - emailed Nick at TriRig and he said to go back to 23mm. But I didn't listen and filed down the bridge so that the tire would clear. It only took a little bit of filing, about 95% if the bridge is still present. It's been OK so far on my rides, which haven't been many.
I believe the new Omega brake has better clearance, so you should give that a look.

You filed down the brake pads themselves? I'm having troubles getting the wheel itself to clear. Haven't even put a tire on it. Oh boy! Thanks for the input.

The Reynolds Strike SLG came with mine. They are 25mm wide and fit fine. The Aero90 are 26.2mm wide so a little wider but I am sure I have more than 0.6mm clearance on each side. I use 23mm tires on them.
Could not get a disc cover to work though. Just a slight rub from the indented chainstays.

I had the same issue with my Reynolds aero 72's on my Triad. Switched to the tririg brake and 23mm tires and all is good now. And way easier to adjust. You can prob fing the old version with the screw on covers pretty cheap. That's what I went with.

No, not the brake pads, but the arch above the tire itself. Attached a pic, hopefully that makes a bit more clear.
I took off maybe 1.5mm off the bottom of the arch to get the tire to fit. Wheel (Yeoleo, Chinese carbon) fits fine.
I do suggest having a look at the TriRig. I found the TRP brake a real pain to adjust.

I see! Mine seems to be getting the brakes to spread wide enough.

Nick, which specific brake would I need for the rear on the Blue Triad? I have one of your on the front and absolutely love it, but with the angle pull, which model would work? Thanks!

Looks like you have a brake purchased prior to June 2016. At that time, we made some rolling changes to the brake, one of which specifically addressed this issue. Any brake purchased in June 2016 or later would avoid the clearance issue you experienced.I also have the older version of the Omega-X on my Triad SL. I had to file that plate down, but still was getting a bit of rub when getting out of the saddle. Somebody in another thread on this topic recommended adding washers to move the brake away from the frame just a bit, and since I did that I have no problems with rubbing at all.
To the OP, the original TRP brakes suck bigtime, you'll make your life much easier using something like the Omega-X. Having said that if your rims are really wide you may also get rubbing on the seatstays, so it's worth checking that.

The Omega X is what you need. http://www.tririg.com/omegaThanks Nick! I appreciate the help. On another part, is there any way to get your stem to work with the Triad, or would the Blue stem work best?
Thanks!

Unless you're talking about the SP/AL models, the Triad is not compatible with aftermarket stems. Most of the models come with integrated bar/stem combo (that is junk IMHO). They do make a proprietary stem you can buy that has the extra bolt going down into the bayonet fork, and allows the use of aftermarket aerobars.
I'm actually using the Blue/Aerus stem with the Alpha-C aerobars but the Alpha-X/Sigma-X would not be compatible, I don't think (too bad, because the lower stem angle would have been ideal for me, I can't get quite as low as I'd like with the -6 degree stem).

Thanks very much for the help! I'm looking at going with the ENVE system, and it would be awesome if I could simply use their entire system with their stem. Looks like I'll have to get the Blue stem and use it with the SES aero setup. I may just buy the system anyway, as then I can always move it to a new bike should I ever get one. I'm pretty impressed with the Enve SES system, but am always open for suggestions. My Triad is a bike I love, but the current front end makes it hard to adjust much.

I agree about the Triad's front end. I notice they're moving away from that on the new Elite.

Thanks!Omega-X works (with the caveats above about tire clearance if you're using the pre-2016 model). The fact that it's center-pull actually works better with the Triad than the original TRP, since it means no funky elbow adapter required. If I get a chance later I can snap a pic to show you what it looks like with the Omega-X mounted.
Hey thanks for the info! I'd love to see your setup. I appreciate it.

(I wouldn't trust the Alpha-C for standing starts).

A team deal makes it a good buy. I really love the adjustability of the SES and I'm too old to replace the bike. ;-)
