After bit of bad luck I feel I need a new helmet. My first concern is having lots of ventilation my 2nd is being aero. What do you recommend and why?

Giro Synthe, probably the best of both worlds in ventilation and aero!

The LG Course would have my money.
On a par with the Synthe in terms of both qualities, but at around half the price.

Where the heck are you finding the LG Course at half the price?

I'm legitimately curious. Why is your 2nd requirement to be aero with a road helmet?

Here in The UK, a Course can be had for <£100 but a Synthe is in the £175-185 ball park.

This. The Course feels like you have fan in front of your head.

If you want a ridiculously ventilated full aerohelmet, the Louis Garneau P09 is a great option. That thing feels like a road helmet.

Cannot find anything around that price in the US unless you wear a small.

Evade seems to be #1 with the LG Course being #2

Giro air attack

Has been proven multiple times to be one of the slowest, hince why Giro came out with a new aero road helmet.

It's simple as can be. One helmet to do it all. Commute, road race, triathlon, etc.

Thx. Any data comparing the air attack vs the synthe?

No independent comparisons between the two that I can quote.

I remember Jim from ERO said that the LG Course tested as reducing overall drag (i.e. across the whole bike/rider system) by ~2% when compared to the Air Attack, and that nobody tested faster in the AA.
I realise that this doesn't really answer your question. It's more just to point out that the AA doesn't provide the aero benefit to justify the reduction in cooling and hideous looks.

Thx for info. So the synthe offers improved aero benefits with much better looks?

The looks part is just my opinion, but objectively the Synthe offers improvements in aerodynamics and ventilation.
I believe that it's lighter too.

I thought I remember ERO posting that the Air Attack was no slower than the Synthe in the head down (aero) position. I hope I'm remembering that correctly.

Since no-one else has said it yet - unusual for ST - aeroness of any one helmet has repeatedly been shown to vary from individual to individual, and from the varying positions of that individual. Therefore, unless you can go and test yourself and have the ability to maintain a fixed position for the duration of your rides - choose the helmet that you like the look of and that feels comfortable. Personally I wear a Propero II, Air Attack Shield, or a Bell Javelin depending on the type of ride/race I'm doing.

I have both the Course and the Evade. The Course is by far the best ventilated of the two. No comparison really.

Has anyone done wind tunnel test of the LG Course vs Evade? As mentioned everyone is different but there can be some patterns of what works for most people.
