Blows a ton of air. Often use it on low/medium instead of high when its cooler in the house.

Any 24" (60cm) industrial, high velocity or drum fan will be of similar performance. Drum type fans are usually a little higher performance than open cage style, so you might be able to go one size smaller 20" (50cm) with a drum type. A quick search on amazon.co.uk for "industrial fan" turned numerous hits. Larger fans will move more are at lower RPM resulting in quieter operation...but, they cost more. I wouldn't go smaller than a 50cm Drum or 60cm open frame.

I have this Lasko mounted on the wall in front of me. It has a timer so I put my shoes on my bike and dry them for 2 hours after. It also has a remote so each to change speed.

Note that these smaller vornado fans move about 500 cfm of air vs. the industrial fans which move 3000+ cfm. Its not all about volume (air speed is as much of a factor). But, the 24" variety will create a column of air large enough to envelope your entire torso---and its moving pretty fast. Back in March, I would put it on low because I got COLD and wasn't working hard enough on easier rides.

Second it has a brushless motor, and will last for a decade if treated reasonably well. I was replacing those Vornado types every few months as the bearing would wear out and it got all wobbly.

There really isn't much of a comparison.

I have one of these scroll type industrial fans. I just realized I had it sitting in my warehouse last week. I think Lasko makes a smaller version.

Yes. Hands down what you want is a blower not a fan. Here is the Lasko version that pivots (they have another model at a lower price).

These things put out a focused blast of high speed air. On high it is well over 30 mph. I've had one of these for the last 2 years and mostly run it on the lowest setting, sometimes medium but almost never on high. I get too cold! Seriously, this is the type of fan you want. Not only does it put an outdoor like breeze on you, the beam of air it puts out is strong enough to get a good circulation going in the room you are in. I've been riding a trainer since 1984 and have experience with just about every type of fan set up known to man. This thing is the way to go.

I do too; it's good. I would never describe it as "too cold" though unless the room temp is already cold. Now that my room temps are into the low to mid 70s in the morning, even with this thing on high, I am thinking I need to add another fan.

If you have a Sam's Club near buy they have the best price on this excellent fan by far at $64.98 On high it outputs a 36mph blast that stays quite tightly focused unlike conventional fans. I use one along with a 30" industrial pedestal fan.

The blower fan does look super powerful, but it's probably overkill (in a good way!)

I've got a 'regular' large Lasko round fan that costs half that blower, and the only time I run it on high is if it's 90+F outside (mine is in my garage). Heck, that fan is on low almost the entire time, except for when it's super hot outside and then it's on medium.

And I'm a big-time sweat machine. It's pretty normal for me to pour an entire cup of sweat out of my front wheel Cycleops riser if I go for an hour without a fan.

Still, $65 is easy peasy for a good triathlon piece of gear and I def wouldn't criticize getting it!
