Seems quite a good chunk of $$$ for a fork. I'm assuming pros at Kona will be riding this. Any top AGers as well???

I'd really like to see some aero testing numbers for this. The wider fork is interesting. Perhaps a harbinger for future fork design by other companies as well?

And yes, it's a bit expensive. If the magnetic cover works only for the Omega X, that would also limit its appeal, since the Omega X is significantly aero in itself and fairings such as this should help sidepull and less aero centerpull alternatives more.

Still, it looks like a very good (albeit costly) step up.

Yeah, designing the fork around an aero brake that is then covered up just seems incredibly stoopid. Many people (not all) report less braking power with the Omega brake....so why design around that brake I'd you are going to cover it?

It'll be investing to see what guys like Jordan ride....he is sponsored by SRAM. Does his co tract allow him to ride a TRiRig brake or will be be forced to use the 3T fork (or somehow cobble a SRAM brake into the new fork)?

I really really like the design as the magnetic cover should make for easy breakdown and reassembly. Looks like a proper super bike now. Interesting that they went with a fork design that's very similar to what Orbea is using on their new Ordu.

Ah, thanks. So not the new fork then. Interesting.

Still looks pretty speedy!

Making a fairing such as this for a side pull brake would be very hard to accomplish due to the cable sticking so far out to the side. The Magura brake should be able to be used with only slight changes to the brake cover as its width is similar to the tri rig but is a taller brake. The FSA centerpull brake should also work if it ever makes it to market.

I actually was thinking the fairing would be better with the Magura. The trick would be whether or not the upper end of the Maguras, which pivot outward during braking, would hit the fairing walls, unlike the P5-6 setup where the fairings swivel simultaneously.

Nice to see Jordan using Maguras as well now! Thanks for the link, BryanD.

The fork design said Orbea to me too.
My understanding is that aerodynamically you either need to have the fork blades really tight against the wheel to minimise airflow between the two, or have the fork blades out of the way in order to allow air to flow between quite cleanly.
The wide fork blades make sense to me, they make allowances for wider and wider rims and will lead to far fewer clearance issues.

For that sort of money you could probably get a P5six fork and Aduro bar upgrade kit, have an overlong 'beard' to trim down to length.

What about the big gap between the brake and inside of the fork blades? I'd be curious to see a CFD of that area. Hopefully we get some aero data on the new fork in the next month or so.

When I first saw it, I was immediately reminded of this fork (which I think looks great):

There is a lot of talk about the interaction of the front wheel with the fork, but I have never seen wind tunnel results of a "narrow" vs "wide" fork.

Not that the comparison is invalid, but I'd assume the wide forks on CX bikes are intended for tire / dirt clearance only and any positive affect on aerodynamics is coincidental?
