I have the Apple Watch 3 (nike version, non-cellular). I got it as a Christmas gift to replace a 10 year old Nike Sports+ GPS watch. For workout purposes, I only use it to for running and I use the nike plus app as I have been using that for 10 years.
Pros
Cons
Pros
- Connects to GPS immediately when beginning a run
- GPS has been very accurate
- Primary metric being displayed is in a large font and easily readable in the dark and daylight
- Easy to toggle between metrics (distance, pace, time) will running
Cons
- If wearing gloves, you have to take your glove off when starting or ending the run
- Have to choose between ave pace or current pace before you begin your run on which one you want displayed
- This is a software thing, so maybe an update in the future will allow you to switch between both on the same run
I don't listen to music when I run and I turned off the heart rate monitor so I can't speak to either of those features. Wearing the watch for 12 hours a day, including a 30-45 run, with the heart rate monitor and most notifications turned off, I use about 20% of the battery a day.
