Who is Murphy's Law?
He is supposed to be Irish. Some say his father was Dutch. Nobody believed he was real.
Nobody ever saw him or knew anybody that ever trained directly with him, but to hear Devashish tell it, anybody could have raced against ML.
You never knew. That was his power.
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.
And like that, poof. He's gone.

I could've sworn I talked to him before the swim in Harriman, 2009. Then, a fog rolled in, the swim was cancelled and I never saw him again.
The legend lives on...

ML is a nasty, gnarled scaliwag of a hobbitroll. He shares an unnatural kinship with the very rocks underneath his hairy knobbed clubfeet. Some say it borders on incest, but I don't know nuthin' about that. ML's harpie-like gaze fixes friend and foe alike in stupified confusion as he steals their beer and performs lewd and lascivious acts with his bike in front of them. Like carnies, he has small hands with which he throttles an ale like a spent condom in a whorehouse. No one is quite sure how he manages to move so fast, though the acid etchings of his sweat droppings leave a trail clear as dust of his whereabouts. You will know he is ahead of you. You will know he has beaten you. And you will feel shame.
Other than that, he's a pretty nice guy.

I literally did.....
I'm 5 lbs up on last year with the Whiteface Hillclimb vs ML looming on the horizon on June 10th. I know that ML will be out for revenge after last year's series of smackdown "near misses".
Thankfully I am not doing AZ. ML is unbeatable there.
If nothing else, ST as we know it can go back to normal with the reappearance of ML!

Whatever gnarly hobbit tried to take me out of this race with an errently placed car door yesterday has FAILed! Arm hurts like a mofo, it may be broken, but i don't know....and part of me doesn't want to know. Until after 4PM on the 16th. I may not be able to get on the aerobars, but in that case I am going old school on all your asses! Dave Scott's got nothing on me (except the business end of the porn-stash).
Murph? Heh. Maybe he comes late again and has to park further out near the entrance. If Beck unleashes, someone's gonna have a whole lot of splainin' to do.

Another question...
Will the special needs aid station at 44/55 & Granite only have special needs bottles for LC racers, or will the usual stuff (Heed & H20) be there too.
Thanks, I'm figuring out my nutrition logistics now.

ok.... got the gearing and the shoes figured out, now compression socks/calf sleeves?
I have never worn them and have teased mercilessly, my friends who do wear them....... but I am prone to calf cramping on hilly bike courses, which I always solve with salt pills. I am thinking I'd rather avoid the cramps in the first place for this race.
yeah or nay????
I wore compression socks and my slowtwitch jersey last year as a bit of a joke, no one got it and I found them to be pretty annoying to run in.
As for this year, I am coming to the realization that SC will be plenty and that the F1 is more suffering than I am interested in doing this time of year.
As I hear that race day is Yoda's birthday there will be yet another excuse to have some beers afterward.
My birthday is the day before. Lucky for me, I am aging up to your AG. Prepare to become cannon fodder.
That is fine with me. I got beat by like a half hour by someone last year anyhow, might as well lose to someone drinking while racing this year ;-)
Long as I get a mug of some sort I will be happy...even if I have to steal one
What's with all the ankle grabbing? There are plenty of excuses for failing on race day (seat was too high, forgot my Bento box, compression socks too tight, wrong Infinit formula, used Tufo tape on my tubulars, selected wrong Zipp wheel for prevailing yaw angle), but there is no excuses for not pouring everyone a large glass of shut the hell up smack talk before the race.
Stop being such a damn Nancy!!!!

Anyone who races long course is "special needs" rides a short bus in my book. That shit is insane. Word.

Ha! I've often been described as "special needs", mostly by my wife, so I guess LC is appropriate for me. LC in 2008 was one of the best race experiences I've had, so step up and join the big boys.

Rode the short bus as a kid, eh? ;-)
So, have we done a roll call for this yet? Who all is actually coming out and racing this year?
What happened to the Marines? I know - don't ask, don't tell.
Y'all want some smack talking done? Well allll righty then. It's GO TIME.
I hereby decree that not only will I beat all comers in the F1 middle distance (in case you didn't know, I'm taking a pass at Winning Tetsuoni's Money this year - maybe if it goes back to Oct I'll race LC again), setting a new middle distance course record in the process, I will also simultaneously virtually smack down all the SC racers as well:
My elapsed time for the first r/b/r segment will beat all the SC'ers, who will get to stop at that point, whilst I bang out another b/r afterwards.
Yes, I'm talking to YOU, Dave Roche.
But the real event starts at T3.
It's time to separate the weak from the chafed, the men from the boys, the awkwardly feminine from the possibly Canadian

Yes - it's in the shape of Celine Dion. Paramount celebrity? That's depressing, even from this side of the border. But I do enjoy hockey and periodically sing Oh Canada when I'm frying up my ham.

I see your challenge and my short course time will best your split time by 5 minutes.
There was only one miracle on ice and there was only one miracle in the mountains. The chicken (yes I am built like Michael Rasmussen) is coming home to roost at AZ. You are going to need a rope and some cams to get yourself through run 3 this year.
