Alberto Salazar used testosterone (doping) as an active runner
Quote | Reply
On page 14 in the apparently USADA report on the Oregon Project Alberto Salazar admit to use testosterone as an active runner. Testosterone was illegal at the time and considered doping.

Hello Halvard and All,

Interesting and makes one curious as to how the confidential USADA report arrived in a public forum.

Also is there just criticism ..... or is there information that will result in legal penalties?

Cheers, Neal

Letsrun.com has also done some good writing

Still think Pre Classic will be a celebration of Salazar as always(+ all the dopers running 100M)

If you open the dictionary, and go to doping, they have pictures of Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, the 1970's East German womens swim teams, Ben Johnson, Carl Lewis, Indurain, Virenque, Ekimov, Berzin, Olano, Basso, Lance, Leipheimer, Hamilton, Hejsdahl, diLuca, Maria Sharapova, Butch Reynolds, Ullrich, Pantani, all the top 1990's Norwegian skiers (don't fool yourself) and of course Salazar and let's not forget most of Iten Kenya. Next page will be Norwegian doping golden girl using some lip balm and proclaiming she can't read a label that say DOPING PRODUCT. If you flip over to Blood bag, there will be a picture of Lasse Viren, and the entire US Olympic 1984 cycling team (legal back then)....and so it goes. Nothing to see here. Now FIFA and the NFL....those guys are squeeky clean choir boys!

You are besmirching at least three cyclists on that team: Phinney, Carpenter-Phinney, and Thompson are innocent here. Thompson actually was exiled by dirtbag Eddie B with a "wear her out until she overtrain" plan for refusing to dope.

Otoh, you forgot the Chinese middle/long distance track program from the early 1990s

The report portrays legal substances the athletes were taking as a sinister doping plan, sort of like the IRS producing a report filled with examples of tax avoidance to bolster an incident or two of what may be tax evasion. It was written for public relations purposes. It was meant to be leaked. That is how USADA operates.

It's the method of use thats illegal. If they just drank it then no problem.

Fair point, sorry for implicitly including the Phinney's and Thompson in that category. I am still miffed since Alexi Grewal "stole" the gold medal from Steve Bauer, but I suppose it was all legal back then to use the blood doping options.
