Maybe it's due to purchasing a low end set, (PD T1+AL) but after a winter on the trainer these things are trashed. The covers on the pads have completely evaporated which leaves an extremely slippery surface. I've found replacement pads but wonder if that's the route to take? or am I going to end up with the same thing?

Those are the replacement's I found ($41 my door). BUT, I'll give making my own a shot first. Thanks!I used cut up mousepads for a couple years being a cheapass, but got some Cee Gees for last season. AMAZING. Put in a ton of miles training for Ironman, and couldn't imagine ever doing it again without 'em.

I did get a set of Cee Gee pads and LOVE them. BUT, the same issue I had with the tops of my old pads getting destroyed has now happened to the bottoms (Velcro portion) of these. I take them off after rides on the trainer to allow for drying and last night this layer came off. Maybe I shouldn't be removing the pads?

When on the trainer, ride with a towel draped over the pads. Staying continually with sweat (bacteria breeding ground) will eventually kill almost every pad out there (or make it smell so bad that it kills you first).

I use this stuff: http://www.amazon.co.uk/...itting/dp/B002GUB9R0
Enough to last a lifetime and it's useful to have a round for diy stuff as well. I find the 3mm stuff a bit too thin so would go 5mm. You can also find sample size patches which may fit and they are super cheap.

Yes, I just got a pair for a Shiv in March and they are more than twice as high than the originals.

Yup. They are massive, probably a good cm over the height of my Felt Devox OEM pads. I use mine on the turbo but take them off for racing.
love the cee gees. velcro tape doesn't stay put. thoughts on how to fix?
