Somebody I know locally said "Arkansas" but did not mention any details. There are some great places for races there.

Find out what it is in life that you don't do well, then don't
do that thing.

I had heard Washington. Supposed to be time for the west coast since they already missed the rotation.

The bigger question is what kind of races will they have and how they will be setup. Will the NDL sprint
be eliminated since there may be no WC NDL sprint, and will they add a DL Sprint? If so, what
are the details.

I hope it is somewhere nice. I liked Burlington. Don't like where it is now.

I thought Milwaukee has been great. Burlington was great, too.

Based on the past locations, west coast is a good bet:

2005/2006 - Missouri
2007/2008 - Oregon
2009/2010 - Alabama
2011/2012 - Vermont
2013/2014 - Wisconsin

2 out of 10 years only for the west coast is sure not very balanced.

When is the location going to be announced? I did Milwaukee last year. Qualified but skipped this year. Been there done that. I'm not fast enough to qualify for World's anyway. So yeah my primary interest in this race is purely tourism. :D USAT puts on some fine events. I think their organizational prowess is higher than that of IM or Rev3. Only ITU has comparable events, IMO.

My vote is to bring it back to Coeur d'Alene (It was there in 2002 or so right?)

Why not something in the Bay Area? Super huge population very close and lots of top quality talent.

I think you are thinking everything else is East Coast if you think it's not balanced. I think it's pretty well balanced with only the South West being unrepresented.

so what else is the west coast other than portland? I heard USAT looked at the country in 1/3rd's. But I do not see the last 10 years being thirds. Go back further and I expect it gets worse.

Nothing. But what else is on the East coast besides Vermont?

Plot all those out and you'll see it's all over the country.

If you look at it in 1/4's it has been balanced:

2005/2006 - Missouri - Midwest
2007/2008 - Oregon - West
2009/2010 - Alabama - South
2011/2012 - Vermont - East
2013/2014 - Wisconsin - Midwest

Remember that 60% of the US population lives east of the Mississippi river.

Either way you slice or dice it, does it not say it should be on the west coast for the next 2 years?

Seattle needs to hurry the hell up, tear down the viaduct, and build that waterfront park and boardwalk and clean up Elliot bay. A race comparable to Chicago ITU or Milwaukee nats would be possible here. As it stands now the only place we could realistically have a tri within city limits is Seward park and maybe Alki. Elliot bay is not too cold in August. 100% for sure wetsuit legal.

A local Milwaukee sports journalist/blogger is reporting that Nationals will be back in Milwaukee next year.

Haven't read the article, but if it's in Mil next year it likely stays for year after as well. USAT most of the time, does 2 year windows for their championship spots. The Junior Elites will have west chester, ohio for 4 years in a row.

Boo. So much for USAT promising to move the event around the country so everyone has an equal opportunity to race. Not everyone has the money to always have to travel.

I hope not. Done Milwaukee. It was very nice, but hoping for something different in 2015. Yes west coast would be nice.

I agree. That article does not make it sound promising though.

That's a total departure from the usual two year stint. I guess Milwaukee must have made them a sweetheart deal.

Or from what I have been hearing the last few years, USAT is not finding a place and RD that wants to host the event because of all the strings attached.

I am biased as I get to sleep in my own bed, and I have not done USAT Nationals elsewhere, but the venue is pretty sweet. Add in the fact that Milwaukee is pretty convenient to get to for a big part of the country, it's probably hard to beat.

Didn't duathlon nationals end up in Tucson for 3 years before it moved to St. Paul this year? Maybe it is something about not getting another venue up to speed quick enough, and the fallback is to just go one extra year at the last place.

Of course USAT could just announce the location already so we'd know for sure!
