25c Corsa Speed TLR

Vittoria now lists the Corsa Speed in the 25c width on their web page. It looks like they are also are coming out with an all black version.

Not seeing one online yet.

Sweet. Let me know how it goes mounting it. My last 2 23s were much easier than the first.

It might help other readers, if someone is posting their experience with the 25c Corsa Speed TLR, if they included which rim they are using it with. My understanding is that rim and tire manufacturers all vary a bit so a tire might work well with one rim but be frustratingly tight on another.

That looks a lot better than the other version.

Nice. Haven't seen them available anywhere yet, can you divulge where you got it? It'll be interesting to find out whether it has lower Crr than the 23 mm version in which case it might be a very good candidate for a very fast rear tire.

Thanks. Their online store doesn't seem to work here (in Denmark). I think I'll ask the Danish distributor - I got told he already had the 25 mm version the other day, but since I hadn't seen it available anywhere I didn't quite believe it (things usually pop up in online stores before Danish distributors get anything).

I meant the black sidewalls instead of the gray.

Get your monitor checked ;-) They appear to still be grey.

BTW, its most likely THAT grey coating (feels like latex), which not only is on the sidewall but lines the inside of the casing, which makes it possible for a cotton-casing tire like that to be run tubeless effectively.

Not for the 25c TLR model. Besides, you were responding to, and then posted, a picture with a grey sidewall.

Interestingly, the Vittoria site DOES show that the 23c model is now available with a black sidewall though...

It shows Anthracite and Black available for both 23c and 25c. They aren't listed in order on their chart. I wonder why they're offering both colors for both sizes. The color isn't all that different as compared to tan sidewalls.

When you try to configure the tire for purchase, here's what you see:

Black sidewalls unavailable for the 25C. I don't see where Timmywins said he purchased the black version.

That picture you posted above shows the grey ("anthracite") sidewalls.

You may be right but I inferred that he meant the 25C black version.

Not me.

I'd like to see them come out with a TLR version with thicker tread though (i.e. Corsa TLR). I might run a 25C version of that for training.

The Corsa Speed TLR just wears out too quickly for anything but race-only use...

I ordered the Anthracite Sidewall. I just mounted it on my Super 9 and it was easy. Didn't even need a lever. Very refreshing considering my 23c was pretty hard to mount.

Hey Tom,

I heard you mention the "latex" layer on this before and its intended use. Do you think this is contributing to the low RR, whether intended or not, as compared to other cotton casing. Or, is it more casing shape for tubeless?

Cheers!

The latex layer is used help hold air. Before the latex layer was added the tire was having a much harder time staying aired up.

What is the max width of the 25mm tyre when installed and fully inflated on the Super 9?

Right, I get that. Asking about secondary gain, or unintended benefit with the mechanical properties of the latex helping with RR? Or, is this mostly driven from casing shape and subsequent properties. It really is a significant improvement when you look at the top 10.

Cheers!
