Since all 23mm are out of stock, what if I put 20mm on a front Zipp 808FC (clincher)?

IMO, no, it is not. slightly more aero, but slightly worse in crr

As Jeff says, no, they are actually more aero than the 23mm. For the record, Tollakson runs 20mm front and back on his Zipps, although his rear is not shielded given that it is in a Dimond.
