2017 Racine 70.3 Qualifying Spots

The Ironman website says that Racine has 30 qualifying spots--i'm in the 25-29 category.

How do they determine the number of slots per category? Is 30 a pretty average number for a race?

For a US 70.3 race that qualifies for the 70.3 World Championship that is not on the continent (South Africa in 2018) there is usually only 30 slots. Most US races that qualified for Chattanooga this year had 50 or 75 slots. Everything after Muncie qualifies for South Africa.

Slots per AG are based on starters. For a 30 Slot 70.3 race I have typicaly seen M25-29 and W25-29 only have 1 slot each.

Last year at this race there was 2 slots for the 18-24 AG if this helps at all. I think we had about 60 athletes.
