2016 Vuelta a Espana
Starts today!

Personally my favorite grand tour and always great to watch.
I created a Velogames league, you can enter until noon eastern today!

League Name: Slowtwitch
League Code: 802012014510

Chaves from Orica is my favorite!
Contador is looking redemption.

Talansky looks good, but he crashes a lot, so we shall see.
I think we finally see Dombrowski take a stage win.

NBC gold has full coverage and a 2 hour recap every night on NBC Universal

Dombrowski better get a stage win!!! He's a local kid for me so love to see him killing it. Cannondale bringing some big guns so let's hope they do something...

Will this be the spoilerthread? If not, don't read the next sentence...

Team Sky winning the TTT, oh boy heeeere we go. Actually refreshing to see Froome last wheel over the finish. Don't think he will win the Vuelta, esp with this team.

Talansky falls out of GC contention pretty quickly, Joe gets unleashed. Just finished second in Leadville. Could have won it and Utah if he had ridden for himself. He's either gonna be cooked or super strong for Vuelta.

12 0f 21 stages considered mountainous for this 2016 Vuelta.
Contador the GC favourite will win, Quintana & Froome battle for podium, Chaves will disappoint, , Kruijswijk the dark horse

What the heck happened to Tinkhoff today in the TTT? Contador literally on the verge of losing this on day 1.

And what orange juice is Valverde on doing three Grand Tours after a 3rd and a 6th?

Not sure, I only watched a little bit. Astana had a slow time because Lopez had a mechanical early on and the whole team waited for him (as if it wasn't clear enough who their GC guy was) not sure what happened (if anything at all) with Tinkoff.

Kwiatkowski seems to have recovered from the lung infection he had earlier this season. He looked strong in Rio (though a little unwise). With the help of a radio and a smart manager he may continue doing well in Spain.

No Need for spoiler thread, not too many people watch. Only the true hardcore fans watch. We are all most likely watching Europsort on the internet.

Definitely going to miss Universal sports this year with GoGo & Schlanger commentating

Its nice that a recap is available on Universal HD every night and live streaming on NBC Gold.

Today's stage is a perfect reason why I love this race.

1KM climb with gradients up to 30% at the finish and only on the 3rd stage!!

Already screwed up my velogames team, added a rider that's not even in the race!

no, it was shrewd and tactical. He was able to spring Majka for the winning move. Really no telling who'd be the best sprinter amongst Nibbles, Majka, and Henao had two of the trio not crashed.

Vuelta is just ridiculous. They used this climb in 2012 as well. 13.8% avg for about 1.5 km...

and this is just the first of 11 summit finishes...

30% is crazy. I've done an honest 25%, and it's really hard to not flip the bike backwards from the pedal torque, even with the usual lean-your-body-over-the-front-wheel tactic. Particularly hard for tall guys with a high Cg. I'd look for Pozzovivo and Quintana to be good at it.

Crazy stage.....when it really pitched up it looked like Froome was done and there was a decent gap....but somehow he rallied and closed down the gap to finish 4th. Pretty damn impressive.

Mr. Excitement? Love him.
30% grade? I can't walk up 30%.
So Froome has a over a minute on AC 3 stages in? I'm not up for another Froomie snoozefest. But I don't think it's gonna stick this time.....

I didn't do well betting against Froome in the last GT.

But I'm sticking with it. Froome is looking outgunned, teamwise. So far. Valverde, Quintana, Fernandez, and Moreno all on form. Early days, yes. But still, I don't think there's going to be a Sky Train controlling every stage and delivering Froome comfortably to every selection climb. No Thomas, Nieve, Landa, Pouls..... Froome'll have to cowboy it, and Movistar can have fun teeing off on him with whomever they want.
