I'm in for the full; my wife is in for the half.

Goals? To crush my enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lametations of their women. I'd settle for 10:xx though.

We're coming from Northen Virginia. My fourth full, her second half.

First time doing B2B, heard great things.

Anything you missed? Isn't there the usually panoply of ST gripes/frets/complaints?

Will the swim be wetsuit legal?
Will they have the right kind of sports beverage?
Why don't they do something about the drafting?
What if it's too hot? What if it's too cold? What if the wind is blowing?
What if there are other people swimming near me?

I may have questions as the time nears. In the interim, I just want you to know that every time I read one of your posts I think "ape tits" and laugh like a fifth grader......

I spoke to someone on the run course committee, and they said there is a push to have all participants do the out and back to PPD (like the full), then the whole run around the lake will be on E/W Lakeshore and the proposed turnaround will be where Lakeshore intersects CB Road. Sounds like the fastest course yet.

Haven't given it a lot of thought after being part of that record-setting relay last year. Hard to imagine our team going any lower unless they a) replace me ... getting too old for this ... or b) improve that run course enough to help our runner go even faster than he already did.

I'd like to get across that damned bridge without all the chaos. I might have finally cracked 4:30 on the bike last year were it not for that. I came blasting in there at full bore only to find all the slowest riders from the half course cued up and waiting for their turn on the little rubber mat. I hope they have a better solution there this year.

I'm doing the half. I feel like the half iron distance has been my worst distance so I'm hoping to really nail it for once. I've never done B2B before so it's hard to set goals. I'll have a power goal and run split goal, but mainly I just want to race well and see where that puts me. Every time I've done a half it's been part of a build toward an Ironman so I'm looking forward to just focusing on a half and seeing if I can improve at the distance.

I'll be there for the full. I haven't quite nailed down the IM distance yet, but I think 9:30 is realistic if I don't completely fall apart. I have finally been relatively successful at the HIM this year and I'm hoping to extend that to the full. This will be my third IM distance race. B2B 2011 in the cold, wind, and rain was my first.

I'm from Mooresville, NC so this is the closest IM distance race to home for me. I really enjoyed it in 2011 and have been looking forward to going back. Setup always does a great job with their events and the course isn't nearly as crowded as an IM brand event. I like that they moved T2 away from the Battleship side of the river last year, although I wasn't there to experience it. It sounds like it was an improvement. I'm looking forward to it.

- Anything else I may have missed! - Hoping for better weather than '08, and glad to have the run course around more of the lake again. That was beautiful in '08. Also signed up for Bone Island Full in Key West in January. Figure they do such a good job with B2B and I like Bone Island this year, I'll go back.

Think of doing the half. Sounds like a great race and I have never raced a flat race so I'm looking forward to it. Yea looking forward to 5+ hours of suffering. I'm from Boston so ill make a wicked long weekend out of it.

Forgot to mention doing the half as a scouting trip for the full next year.

Well I'm in for the full... Signed up back in Dec when it first opened looking to take care of unfinished business from B2B '09...but a dog bite on the ass and broken bone in my leg from getting hit by SUV on a training ride=see what the day brings and try and enjoy a nice day in NC!!!

Ramping up training now.
If a group is going to do a practice swim I would like to join in. I will probably come into town on Thursday sometime.

Doing my first half, hoping for sub 5

Coming from WV with 3 other racers.

My 1st time at b2b, also first time to Wilmington

I was planning to do it for the second time (first was last year). However, I've been battling some Achilles problems that I am trying to work thru before committing to traveling all the way from Colorado only to limp the run. It seems things are filling up faster this year than last. Any idea how many full slots are left? I'm not going to know whether I can manage it for a little bit yet...

If everyone is interested, I try to put on a swim course practice/recon session the friday before the race. I swim the channel pretty frequently and love to give out some pointers. Had a pretty good group of people the past few years

Haven't planned on it yet. Looks like I better get after it if I have any thought about doing it. Having done it 4 of the 5 years (and missing the one year with really bad weather by happy coincidence), I've kinda been there and done that. Not highly motivated.

I know that you are the bike guy for your relay. Not sure if you know this, and others may find it helpful. But they have paved a large portion of 421 (the road leading back into Wilmington) and have done....well for lack of a better term, a shitty job. I think they call it chip seal??? Not really sure. Not as smooth as it has been but not as good either
