How's everyone's season going so far. How's your training? When is your next race?

Broken right hand two weeks ago that I re-broke on Tuesday. Not going as well as I would like, but it should get better...

I crashed my bike at IMOZ recently. That was no fun and my first ever DNF :(

But you're here now & can start on those goals again, yes? (Sorry, Miss Sunshine for a minute...)

I did reasonably well at my first sprint of the year in late April. Had to back down expectations on the late April marathon due to bursitis in the hip but, 2 cortisone injections later I still hit a PR by 14:00 (low bar = "easy" PR = still slow). Have just started reintroducing running a bit.

Still eyeing my bike with trepidation & distrust, but haven't given it much of a chance this year.

Have been swimming like mad & seeing decent results. Have 2x5ks (swimming) within the next two months, so should be continued enjoyment. Have even introduced morning practices a few times/wk & picked up two weight sessions just to try to round it out & maybe lean down a bit while building up enough to sustain the swim load.

Altogether...I'm not displeased with this year thus far, it's just different than I expected.

Nothing planned this year yet. I need to focus on dropping weight and coming back from some extended time off. In Sept/Oct I'll see where I'm at and if I'm up for the Seattle Half Marathon this year. I'm afraid longer distances are out of reach but you never know.

Yes I am. Are we riding this weekend?

And I got in the pool today after 2 years and 7 months away. It was not pretty.

Maybe for now...but not forever....you didn't start with an Ultra....right?

Have faith & build it up. Find the joy in it, watch your body come back to you, your mind will remember why it was (is) what you loved. But find the fun in it and relish rediscovering that.

As someone who just got home from morning practice...which is becoming a regular thing for the first time in 10 years, and I'm enjoying it this time....it's amazing what a little taste of that joy brings back. Don't put too much pressure on yourselves...enjoy the journey, remember who you are & why you're doing this. Take back your body, your mind & your sport.
