PLL (Cancun OWS) 10K and 3K swims

Next year we'll find out dates, etc, around January. http://www.nadoporlalibrecancun.com/Joom/

Even though we're only 80km away, we'd likely stay there (assuming my kids don't have another horse competition that same weekend) as the prices are really quite good.

Hotel sede

If anyone is interested in doing this next year, we can probably figure out a place for you to stay here (where I live) gratis if you decide to stay longer.

here you see the 10K men have left and the 10K women are to start. The 3K folks take a boat 7k towards Isla Mujers, jump off the boat and swim the remaining 3K to la Isla.

cool shot

Very cool. How deep are they? It looks like you could see right to the bottom...

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

Well, the water is pretty clear here. If I can't see the bottom in detail, I get out of the water. :) Srsly. Don't like anything less than crystal clear. I'm going to guess at least 10 meters and likely more. My only frame of reference is Cozumel and here and that is at least 10 m there.

I think this is about where the shot was from and they're around half way here

That would be enough to keep me out of that beautiful water. Total wimp here when it comes to any big fish in the water.

Check USMS, it's posted where they'll be. I'd tell you but I can't remember! I think its not somewhere as neat as Santa Clara or Mission Viejo.....there's something coming up in Baltimore & maybe another one in Michigan?

I'm almost entirely interested. Will just have to look at the schedule a bit more....plan things out.

I definitely want to check this race out. i live on St. John, and we just had 2 races< beach to beach power swim, and swim the sound. i feel the need to go for something longer. my only option is ocean swimming. anything freshwater, and i feel like i am drowning. thanks for the post.

We have a lovely swim coming up in a couple of weeks at Laguna Bacalar but I think it is only 5k (but they might do the 5k with time to do the 2.5k afterwards on sun). I've not been healthy enough to do it before and don't know the circuit. Could be really lovely if we get the entire laguna, but then, lagunas and known for their crocs and with all the rain we've had lately, there was even a croc on the carretera (main highway) in Cancun recently.

Are you interested in Bacalar? I'll answer any questions you have. normally no crocs but the flooding has been insane this week. Likely no problems by then though. But that croc sure looked funny with all the cars going around him.

Lmk what you need about PLL as I speak Spanish and can answer any questions about the convocatoria.
