Let's make a deal!
Does anyone else do this?

Me: Hmmm, I want a glass of wine.
Me: You must drink this big glass of water before you can have wine.
Me: Mmmm, water almost gone.
Me: (looking at pile of stuff on sofa) you have to clean off sofa before you can have wine.

or this variation is quite common as well

Me: Hmmmm, frappachino, yum, me want frappachino.
Me: You do not need a frappachino have an iced tea instead.
Me: But I really want something sweet and chocolatey.
Me: IF you have a frappachino, you must run 10 extra minutes (fill in the blank with other activity...)

I feel as though I'm always bargaining with myself.

Ha :) I sorta do this, but mine go more like this...

Me: If you eat that cake, you have to start following XYZ diet tomorrow morning.

(The next morning) Me: Oh yeah, I'm supposed to start XYZ diet today. Screw that. Where's the frosting?

I bargain until I realize it just isn't worth it and eat the thing anyway.

More common for me is to allow myself to pig out after a tough workout, well beyond what is appropriate to replace the calories I burned. I rationalize it as a reward and that I've earned it.

I'm reading a book right now that I'll share more info on when I get through it. It is about how the food industry engineers food to trigger our cravings. Goes into dopamin, opiates, etc. Very very interesting.

The End of Overeating

I did this last Friday:

Me: OK, too much work, I'm going to go downstairs for a beer.
Me: Dude, you haven't done any training today, go for a run.
Me: man, I want that beer.
Me: OK, let's consult my FaceBook friends.
FaceBook friends: beer, beer/mile, beer, run with a camelback with beer, etc.

Unfortunately I do this all the freakin time. I would say I talk myself out of the bad eating 50% of the time (but that is usually b/c I am too lazy to do the activity I told myself I would have to do first).

All the time. Cleaning the house, starting yard projects, laundry, etc....I can sometimes beat myself into submission with food/drink, but kinda like Jen, sometimes I realize it just isn't worth fighting...I'm still not going to feel "great" about my body regardless of whether I eat it or not..might as well enjoy parts of the ride, eh?

I do have to make bargains and or deals during almost every run though....water breaks/walk breaks/pace/intervals...I'm a wheelin' dealin' machine while running....I'm far more successful in my scheming with food and work than with running though.
