Goal races? Goal times? Non-triathlon resolutions?

What's coming in 2014 for the amazing womens??

None, nada, zero. I feel like life has been out of my control the last couple of years. I'm tired of making plans that go sideways. Depending on where things are at in a couple of months I may revisit my stance.

OK I'll bite:

1: drink less - this is hard for me because I love craft beers...
2: pay more attention to what I have... not thinking about what might be...

Oh and 3: kick butt at masters nationals. :-=)

Consistency, consistency, consistency.

Stop buying kit, just use what I've got.

Find the fast twitch and make it do some work.

Happy New Year!

1. Get my 1km swim time under 21 min - once & then consistently.
2. Roller ski more.
3. Go on a date & wear a frock.

Can tell you which two out of three I've got more chance of knocking over!! :-)

Every year my sister calls me up and says "what's your New Year's Resolution? To get in shape?" And then she laughs herself silly cause she's not in shape. So I broke my NYR into two groups this year

Normal resolutions
1. read one book a month
2. go to church at least 3 out of 4 weeks
3. Try to dress nice at least 2-3 x week
4. spend 3 hours a week working on my house outside of normal chores to get it ready to sell now that kids are all growing up.
5. try something new once a month
6. Spend money more mindfully

Tri resolutions
1. I have a new coach
2. I'm signed up for 2 1/2s and a full - want to PR at 2 of them
3. run less, bike and swim more.

Happy New Year's!!!

Normal resolutions
1. Spend less $ eating out (I got lunch or dinner out far too often this past term)
2. Look more professional at work
3. Not binge. My eating disorder was not invited to 2014!

Tri goals
1. Break 40 for an open 10k
2. Break 20, then 19:45, for a 1650 swim (I am close to 20 but 19:45 is my PR) and 5:45 for a 500
3. Ride more miles than I run

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I'm with you on the drinking - it is my biggest crutch right now. I am trying to rephrase the resolution as "find healthier ways to reward myself".

My triathlon goals are:
Follow my training plan my coach sets out to the letter
Complete Vineman (my first half IM)
Run a 5k in under 30 (I am a minute away)

In for Syracuse 70.3. Will probably do a local oly. Lots and lots of mountain bike racing and cyclocross this fall. Time for something new! Will do an xterra if it fits in with the schedule. Good times!

Trying something a little different with a friend - some accountability built in there too. Some sort of healthy activity/intention for each month...
1/Jan) exercise 30min every day (even a brisk walk counts on the days that may be "rest" days...the dogs second that statement)
2/Feb) yoga 3x/wk
3/Mar) vegetarian diet (this should be the first tough one..)
4/Apr) vegan lunches (thinking of adding dinners, depending on how I feel)
5/May) no alcohol (this won't be tough for me)
6/June) eating out only 1x/week (giving myself an "out" if a very special occasion should present itself)
7/July) no caffeine (this will also be tough - two months prior to IM)
8/Aug) recommended servings of fruit/veggies each day
9/Sept) foam roll/stretch daily
10/Oct) yoga 3x/wk
11/Nov) exercise 30min/day
12 /Dec) run daily (this will include run/shuffle/walk)

Other goals for the year:
Starting (& Hopefully Finish) line(s) of IM Chattanooga healthy
National OW 2.4 in Chattanooga in May - strong swim
Masters Summer Nationals
2 sprints, 1 other oly, 1 other 70.3
USMS Level 1&2
ASCA Level 1&2
Advanced degree decision
New job - this is the most important part of this entire list

1. Get this baby out of me healthy (due next month with our first, a boy)
2. Lose baby weight
3. Run a fall half marathon with my husband

No lofty time goals. Would love to have speed again but we will see how it goes!

Some of those seem a LOT easier than others. The competition goals are awesome. Rock on 2014!!!

None should be too tough but that's sort of the point - to have challenge but be manageable.

This month should be easy...so why was I hustling to get the damn trainer time in right before showering/crawling in bed when I should already be asleep?! Obviously consistency is the challenge.

Thanks! Should be a fun year.

3. Vastly improve my mountain biking skills
4. Get our Aussie/Poodle dog into agility training
5. Participate in a tri, either solo or relay

Non-Fitness Goals:
1. Read a book a month
2. Build up savings
3. Pay off credit cards
4. Get back to being the normal "me". Lost that in the move.
5. Get some projects done around my house (painting, backsplash, etc.)

Fitness Goals:
1. Get back into shape.
2. Finish IM Chatt
3. Get back to regular training lifestyle. I've wallowed in the woe is me too long.
4. Do swim camp (begins Feb. 16)
5. Enter 1 swim meet (if the timing fits with IM training)
6. Lose xx pounds with corresponding decrease in % body fat
7. Have fun with my new bike racing team

I do not set resolutions because they are senseless pressure me so I do as I want whenever the time feels right. As posted in the main forum, I will get funkier than ever before.

Happy new year!!!!

First, let me say that I love this forum bc we can share our goals, accomplishments and misses in a supportive environment with like minded folks. A big thank you to whoever is responsible for creating the women's forum!

Second, thank you to all the womens for sharing, encouraging, supporting bc this forum would not be what it is without all the fabulous participants here!

Third, here goes my race goals for the new year:
1) Complete my first half in September (Princeton 70.3) - goal time is 6 hours - am I crazy?
2) Complete my first half Mary at end of March under 2:10
3) Complete bike leg of iron distance tri (relay) in under 6 hours (AC challenge at end of June)
4) have fun training and racing!!!!!!
5) train sensibly - slow ramp up with volume and then intensity to avoid injuries. No jumping into monster workouts or over training. Go easy on recovery days so I can hammer on the hard days.
6) Get more comfortable in the water - learn flip turns and execute then consistently - emulate the fishies - learn all 4 strokes and do them well!

Wishing everyone success in attaining their goals and remember the womens are here if you want to share successes and your journey along the way - you are all very inspiring and help keep me motivated!

Be consistant in my training! I am very easily swayed from completing my workouts. I have 2 IM rases and 1 marathon this year.

Time to get working!

Here are mine:

1. Learn how to do flip turns. I have swam too many yards not to know how to do them. It is embarrassing.
2. Run faster than I did last year and snag some PRs. Gotta get this knee fixed!

3. Take care of my friends. Now that I feel healed I can turn that energy outwards. I have a friend battling cancer, one battling depression and chronic health issues, and another who just needs someone to listen. I plan to be there for them and whomever else needs me.
4. Give more of my time and money to causes I care about. I got off to a great start last year. I can do more this year.
5. Take a big step towards my big dream. #vaguebooking
6. Write more. I have degrees in Journalism and creative writing and don't do ANY writing.

I love the balance of inward and outward goalS, and I sincerely hope your friends know how lucky they are to have you. Only one of my friends knows I battle depression, and she is on the opposite side of Earth.

I can't do flip turns either, though I have the excuse of weird laws in CA preventing apartment pools from being deeper than 4' at the ends - too little space to learn safely. If you have epiphanies, please pass them along!

Best wishes in the healing and on-taking of new challenges.

I'll help you tackle this one at the women's camp! If all goes well, my resolution of Kona-qualifying at IM Cabo San Lucas will be done and I'll be kicking back a little before the Big Build starts again. Then, we can get lost while running in the forest again (this time, I may ask Dan for directions ;-)

Thank you! 1 and 4 important for me and my family. It makes getting 2 and 3 done more pleasant and manageable.
