Gift to girlfriend question
So my girlfriend has really wanted some cool compression gear for a little while now. She has been away working on her PhD for a little bit, and won't be coming home until mid-sept. She has also been injured most of the summer and unable to run (gnarly back injury). I would like to get her some compression stuff for when she comes home to hopefully get her excited to train together again and start the new season off right.

I have never bought compression gear for myself, let alone her, so any tips on what works, what doesn't and/or cool compression stuff would be greatly appreciated. She loves her Desoto Euro Fit top (keeps everything very close to chest) if that helps with anything. She is also a runner more than cyclist/swimmer (though I have turned her closer to the dark side [cycling]). We are training up for our first 50 mile run in April and then Vineman in July if that has any bearing on anything.

Thanks and all input greatly appreciated for helping me try and be a good boyfriend.

I like CEP (calf sleeves and socks) and Skins (tights) for compression gear. If she is injured there is no better gift than a session with a massage therapist or chiropractor/ART specialist. New shoes never hurt either.

My favorite piece of compression gear is my Zoot CompressRX recovery tights. They also make compression gear for use while running. It's a bit pricey, but has been well worth it.

One more for Zoot. I live in them for at least 24 hours after a long race. I haven't found the calf sleeves to be as valuable for recovery. I'm a runner and my quads and butt are what end up killing me and the Zoots keep them all nice a squished. I did a race in AZ a couple years back that thrashed my legs so I wore them under a long skirt on the plane ride home. Aaaahhh.....

I thought the recovery socks were nice but the tights are so much better. I don't get anywhere near as stiff and sore on long drives home. The Zoot ones look good, too. I get a lot of compliments on them.

And good idea on wearing them under a skirt. I fly out of Kona the day after IM and wanted to wear the tights.

Wow thanks everyone. This has been super helpful. I will probably end up finding some of these famed zoot recovery tights as I am sure they will be a welcome gift after her flight home from Australia.

Zoot is the most popular line for compression at HERevolution shop in San Diego. Plus the new line just came out in colors such as light, dark pink, purple, lime green, white and black. She will love em!
