Bento Box
I am having the hardest time with finding a bento box that works on my bike where the straps won't constantly rub against my thighs. I have fairly thick legs, and I've tried about 3 different types without much success. All of them attach to the seat tube and the top tube. I don't think I can use one at the front of the top tube/head set because of how my cables are set up. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

What about something like a Specialized Remora? I'm not positive, but you may be able to mount in anywhere along the top tube. May be worth taking a look at.

I have this one: http://www.rei.com/...34/topeak-tri-drybag (Sorry, the HTML function is being weird.)
It velcros to the top tube so it should stay out of the way of your legs for the most part. Sometimes it does shift right or left and you might brush it with your knees, but playing with Velcro tightness should solve most of that.

They are kind of pricey, but Dark Speed Works has some options.

Can you post a pic of your headtube/cable set-up? That might help. AP

Can you move them to the head tube/top tube? They won't rub there.

The secret ingredient here is VELCRO - sticky back velcro is your friend. Basically cover the bottom of any bento box type holder with male velcro and stick the equivalent size strip on the top front of your top tube (where you want it) and mate together. The straps, when cinched up under the top tube, will then "safety" the box but it will not slide around. Different widths and lengths (sometimes sold by the foot) are available at big box hardwares or fabric shops. If extra length is needed to clear the cables, you can make an extension for the front/stem strap from non sticky back velcro. Use a length of double sided as long as needed to give a good overlap on both sides of the front straps. Velcro on top tube can simply be left there when not in use or if only for racing -hit it with a hairdryer and peel it off. Replace next time.

I was really happy with two products from Revelate Designs, which is a small company in Alaska that makes all sorts of different bike bags.

I have a Gas Tank in the front that works great on my road bike but the Jerry Can model might be an option for the seat/top tube. The quality seems to be very high. The straps are flush with the bag and do not stick out. The owner is super responsive and can provide recommendations based on the kind of measurements you need. If you're willing to wait he can do custom builds to fit whatever strap configurations you need. Almost all of the bags use Velcro and are thus carbon-friendly.
