Seems feasible to ride one more bounce of volatility before the market really starts to take a dive at the mere thought of the wingnuts becoming president. ;-)

The mere fact that it's below 12 will trigger a bunch of people to do exactly that. You might get a bounce for no other than psychological reasons. "Look it's below 12, Buy!"

OTOH you might have an "Oh crap it's below 12, SELL!"

See why I don't play the market :-)

So here is my free analysis/prediction that you can't hold me to. :)

I pulled out some time in April when the S&P was at 1370. At this moment it is sitting at 1279. I'm thinking mid-August for my return, though it is awfully tempting to come back now.

The situation in Europe has not improved and there is no reason to think the economy will take off without notice. The only thing that would be driving it right now is that there is a lot of money sitting on the sidelines waiting to be invested. But I think the most that will do is stabilize the market a little, not reverse it.

I asked my wife if it was wrong of me to be hoping for a crash even if it means Romney wins the election?

I'm not going to put any money into the stock market until fall or late fall. The whole Europe thing has me greatly worried, and I don't think that our fragile recovery (if you can even call it that) won't survive a serious downturn in Europe. There does not seem to be a good outcome in Europe, no matter what avenue they choose. If Greece exits the Eurozone, and then defaults on their debt, banks in France and Germany are going to take a beating. The only way to keep Greece in the Eurozone is to allow them to essentially stiff their creditors for an extended period of time.....pretty much the same as defaulting. What that all does to credit availability to other countries on the edge (Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland) is hard to discern, but could be a domino effect. If credit availability seizes up in the Eurozone this summer like it did here in 2008, things could get ugly for the US.

I only by and sell oil.

Buy at $65, sell at $100.

No brainer.

My lucky streak in the markets have ended for now.

I bought back in 2008 when the Dow was just under 7,000 and then sold when it hit 13,000. Earlier this year I decided to continue travelling so wanted to finance that with investment income so bought dividend paying stocks. That was a good decision but I bought when the Dow was just over 13,000 (I sold and then rebought around the 13,000 mark).

It's okay because I don't have to sell and will hold until they increase in value which may be a long time in coming. It takes nerve to hold but I refuse to sell at a loss.

I think Europe is also a problem but also think the situation there shouldn't be impacting my U.S and Canadian stocks so much. It appears to be just headline grabbing noise that should not impact the markets here. I also think that if Greece and any other country leaves the Euro, it will create a short term shock but it will be better for the Euro in the long run. If you get rid of the weak player, it will help the strong and leave countries like Germany in a far better position. I also think U.S companies are doing well, making lots of profit with less people It may not be the best for employment but it does help in terms of competitiveness and in the long run, the values of the companies will go up.

That's my theory for now...

You can't predict tommorows prices.......

But, if today's prices look attractive- buy.

I think there is as much greed at the top as greed at the bottom. People wanting to invest, but always trying to hold out for a cheaper price to buy in. You could sit there and miss the train.

It's fact that most investors sell to often. How can you properly predict what we don't know?

The New Specialized Wind Tunnel
Will this be a game changer for Specialized, in both sales and product design, or will it not move the sales and design needle versus those in Specialized's competitive set?
Yes, Game Changer
Minor move forward
Won't budge the needle
