Rubio would come here illegally Quote | Reply

Interesting to see how this plays out with his VP bid:

"Many people who come here illegally are doing exactly what we would do if we lived in a country where we couldn't feed our families," Rubio writes in his book, which went on sale Tuesday. "If my kids went to sleep hungry every night and my country didn't give me an opportunity to feed them, there isn't a law, no matter how restrictive, that would prevent me from coming here."

"They are all crooks, both sides of the aisle."

Which is exactly why instead of trying to keep them from coming we need to simply make sure they play by the same rules everyone else does while they are here and that we actually know they ARE here.

Of course the rules we are currently playing by are completely FUBAR, but that's an entirely different issue.

If I were king I'd just nuke the minimum wage and let them come and work for whatever THEY felt was a fair wage.

I wonder how far of a mental leap it is to go from what is highlighted above to, "there isn't a law, not matter how restrictive, that would prevent me from taking a bribe to ensure I feel like I am getting paid my fair value".

Crazy concept, I know, but if I can barely afford to feed myself, the last thing Im thinking about is creating more mouths to feed.

How many come here legally every year? Why is so difficult for the majority of well-intentioned illegals?

I think that would be a VERY big leap.

Rubio has it right in his book, IMO.

From Wikipedia:

"Under the rule of King Matt the Last, immigrants flooded the US after the announcement was made, and businesses across the country leapt at the opportunity to reduce their operating costs by slashing wages across the board. With the precipitous drop in income, personal bankruptcies and foreclosures soared, with homelessness and poverty increasing shortly thereafter. Although at first business profits improved and the wealth gap continued to increase, the drop in spending that ensued quickly led to massive layoffs and business bankruptcy, plunging the US into the worst depression in its history. This, of course, led to the Great Upheaval (not unlike the Great Society policies of FDR's day) that marked the final year of Matt's reign, and began the long, drawn out process of recovery that continues to this day."

So I am guessing this pulls in a lot of fans from the left since what Rubio said is their battle cry for ignorning illegals. Am I right?

A small fraction come here legally and almost entirely do to the burdensome process of taking the legal route. I have a friend who is a very skilled worker that remained very gainfully employed and did so for years as he worked thru this process. Toward the end of the process, I believe nearly 6 years and many thousands of dollars he was laid off and was very nearly deported/lost the right to work here legally. It was only by very quickly finding another job that he was not.

I've seen this story several times. The "Legal" path is very burdensome and out of the reach of probably the vast majority of those coming in from Mexico.

I agree 110%. However, I don't think any politician will ever touch this because of the racial implications. In the mean time, thankfully, there's a government backed program to get you free food. And another to get you discounted housing. And another to get you free daycare. And another to...

From Wikipedia:

"Under the rule of King Matt the Last, immigrants flooded the US after the announcement was made, and businesses across the country leapt at the opportunity to reduce their operating costs by slashing wages across the board. The resulting slash in prices made US manufacturing once again globally competitive and new markets opened up in the US. Sales soared and unemployment dropped to a an all time low. Business profits remained stable due to the increase of competitiveness both on a global and domestic levels. Many individuals started new businesses to exploit these new markets. Initially overall wages dropped or stagnated but nothing worse than the great liberal depression of 2008. However rather than propping up the failing economy with quantitative easing, federal reserve buyouts and additional debt the economy began a true sustainable recovery based on unmanipulated market pressures and prices. This resulted in the most consistent sustainable economic economic growth the country had ever seen."

I think many poor, starving populations around the globe prove this statement to be incorrect.

I doubt if this changes anything for the left. At the end of the day the right wants to destroy the left and vice versa. It does make me think that Rubio is not the answer to appeasing the conservative elements of the GOP. In fact, a ticket of Mitt and Rubio seems more moderate than a Bush Chaney ticket.

I am just hoping that Rubio gets picked. Does not hurt with the people that are voting for Romney no matter what, but no independent will jump on the GOP ticket at that point.

I wonder how low of a fence would have kept Rubio out?

It's hard for me to picture him with hungry kids.

Kind of how I see it too. "Hey, we cant feed ourselves, but lets have some kids, and if I cant find work or food, we'll just head to the U.S."

Why is population control such an evil concept?

I've seen this as well. It boggles my mind. Why the U.S. would be so quick to deport skilled labor, but wont do a damn thing to deport unskilled labor is beyond me.

He came up through Florida politics, which can teach Chicago a lesson or six in terms of creative corrupution, and Rubio's never been particularly clean even by Florida standards.

That wikipedia entry neglected to mention that the resulting lower prices of goods ushered in an era of higher living standards throughout the kingdom, raising paupers to what was formerly the status of princes.

It's the gold ticket to move from a impoverished country to the United States and there use to be a standard to control who we except for the betterment of our nation.
The new standard,
Sneak over here is mass numbers
Reproduce like rabbits, get government assistance
Become activist.
Support politicians who will take care of you.
Grow your numbers and your power
Make United States a appendage of Mexico.

Simple plan, with a weak Government easy to accomplish.

Immigration buy the numbers.

This is the reason we have an illegal immigrant problem. Gone are the days of Ellis Island where you had streams of immigrants welcomed into the country with open arms with a simple signature. Today you have to jump thru so many hoops, have sponsors, spend tons of money that it becomes extremely burdensome to get here.

A migrant worker looking to work a minimum wage job that would be a huge boost to his quality of living just can't go thru those channels, so they don't.
