ike the sedan, E63 estate is powered by the normally aspirated 6.3 liter V8 engine from AMG which is really a masterpiece. It develops 525 hp and 630 nm of torque and is connected to a seven speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT gearbox, like the one in the SL model, which means this heavy car can rocket to 100kmh from stand still in just 4.6 seconds but the top speed as usual is limited to 250 km/h.

I agree, the E63 is a great looking wagon, especially the rear section where I think the CTS-V looks fugly. But the E63 AMG is over $92k right? Also, the E63 that is currently on sale is the 5.5L biturbo V8. Did they stop selling the 6.3L here in the states? The current E63 only has 273 lb-ft. Big difference.

Well part of the futile attempt of this thread was just to point out a somewhat useful/practical vehicle that is also fast. A Ferrari is nice, but not very practical. Depending what used Ferrari you could find for $64k, the Cadillac could give it a run for its money. Plus, Ferrari's like to catch on fire. ;)

Oh, and for under 1k - 620+ HP (though I've done more than that to mine)! Had 4 people, bikes and even tested a roof rack at 125 mph on some backroads. Been to the track with it, yet rides great and I'm having more fun than my previous M3 even. No stick in an AMG and +$25K for what? No backdoor bragging here - coming right out the front door ;-)
Oh, and as for Ferrari - at least I have the same Recaro seats and suspension as one in this beast ;-) Get one while they last since ridiculous vehicles like this won't be made for long. Mine is #327 built in 2 YEARS.

Why would you want something probably slower and poorer-handling?
$60-75k is F355 territory, and they're most likely going to be beat on and in need of $$$$$ service. This includes the garage queens.

Compared to what? An Audi/BMW/Benz piece of shit? Audis have shitty transmissions, MB has poor build quality in some models (M Class), and BMW interiors fall apart after 5 years or so. I'm on my second 3 Series, BTW.

While other automakers have issues here and there, GM is a head-to-toe failure of engineering and quality that has been in progress since the mid-'70s with the current Government Motors edition being the low point so far. You'd be better off buying an old east German Trabant.

Go ahead and test that Trabant theory and report back. Caddy is actually making good cars these days. The rest of GM is shit, as you said.
I'd rock a CTS-V in a heartbeat (<----see what I did there?). Have you driven one? I have, it'll change your mind quickly, and it wasn't even the s/c version.

I agree - have an Audi wagon as well (for the Mrs.) after our Honda minivan woes, still have/had the BMW and prev Merc. People get WAY to hung up on badges/the past. Same reason people buy certain bikes vs. another I suppose. Have had zero issues with the Caddy (first GM product in 20 years) and have been very happy!

Well yeah, that's the marketing spin. Problem is, they've been pushing that spin for a long time. It is not going to get better until GM loses the belief that their problem is a "perception" problem, not a "quality" problem.

That's not marketing spin, that's from actual reviews and comparisons vs. BMW, Audi, etc.

I checked the reviews. They seemed to think the Caddy was interesting and fun, but that GM would have to spend a lot more effort on cleaning up the quality of the interior before it could compete in that class. In a couple more years, we can evaluate how it holds up mechanically. If history is any indicator, major component failure will be the norm and the hacks will be telling us how the new models are different and better -- again.

I don't know,
JD Power seems to think it's quite good
. If you're next to Volvo and Subaru in the top 3, that's pretty good.

JD Power Initial Quality Study looks at owner-reported problems in the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership. Let's see how it performs with 50k miles on the odometer and after 4 years of sun exposure has the paint peeling off.

I don't think Cadillac is as bad as you make it sound. GM? Yes. Not Cadillacs.
and this has Cadillac only behind Lexus and Porsche:

Its a depreciating asset. It will depreciate faster than a comparable MBZ, but on the other hand the 5 year operating costs are likely to be much, much lower.
I just got rid of my MBZ GL diesel---loved the gas mileage--above 20mpg even with a lead foot, but the ongoing maintenance costs + looming repairs (a 125k MBZ warranty would have been $5k, and only covered major systems) + general problems (in shop 4x in last 60 days) leads me to believe that MBZ/their build quality is not what it once was.
Bought a 5 y.o. Toyota Land Cruiser---the last of the 100 series. Gas mileage is friggin atrocious (12mpg, at best), but it is an absolute tank & I hope to keep it as the family truckster/expedition vehicle for the next 20 years.
I've been looking at the CTS-V for a daily driver, but the depreciation concerns + build quality concerns (more legacy based than actual knowledge) + gas mileage has me looking elsewhere.

I agree the Caddy will depreciate much faster than a MBZ, but you also have a lower cost to begin with. Honestly I couldn't afford the CTS-V new. But I could see a 2 year old CTS-V with ~30-40k miles for ~$45k as a awesome buy if willing to go used. Buying a new car is never a smart deal financially. But some prefer having a new car.

Did you get a new chip to get to 620hp? Any issues with the car yet? I love the color you picked.
