Currently, we are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to support in our Paris Texas facility.

Position Purpose:
Provide occupational health nursing programs and services that support employee health and wellness strategy, and to enhance the employee’s health and performance through case management, health coaching, comprehensive worksite based health surveillance, and health and safety education. Provide a safe, effective, and early return to work program to facilitate restoration of the employee’s health. Assists the mill/facility with safety programs and compliance.

Customer and Customer Requirements:
Key customers include employees in need of primary, occupational health, case management services, and employees’ eligible dependents and retirees who participate in the health screening process. Other customers include other OHNs, North American Regional Operations and Centers of Excellence (COE), mill/site management, Occupational Safety and Health, and Workers Compensation . External customers include community medical providers, various K-C medical benefit/disability vendors and regulatory agencies. Customers expect Health Services Team Members to be responsive to business needs and credible by being a role model through optimal health practices.


Scope:
Due to the advanced level of training, this position is able to practice independently within established standard operating procedures and protocols. The position implements all appropriate programs and services that support employee health and wellness strategy. Responsibilities include proficiency in providing a prevention-based focus on primary case management, interpretation and application of occupational safety and health regulations, conducting health and safety classes and health coaching. Other job skills include health surveillance, preplacement and periodic health examinations, diagnosis and treatment of minor illness/injury, case management, return to work, and development of written safety programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory programs such as OSHA, ADA and FMLA. It requires excellent oral and written communication, consultation, time management, and confidentiality. A key challenge for this position will be in providing direct patient care and case management while balancing the administrative/technical and regulatory aspects of safety and health surveillance. He/she is expected to demonstrate the Leadership Qualities appropriate to the role.

This position on the Health Services Team directly serves over 5,550 employees and their families. Through providing occupational health nursing services such as health surveillance, case management, health promotion education, this position impacts overall K-C health care costs, results in less time away from work and can contribute to increased productivity.

Principal Accountabilities:
1. Implement all appropriate occupational health programs and services that support the employee health and wellness strategy.

2. Provide a safe, effective and early return to work and/or facilitate restoration of the employee’s health to an optimal level of functioning through both work-related and non-work related case management.

3. Ensure K-C employees receive prompt, high quality care for personal illness or injury and gain access to the health care system and proper use of health care plans.

4. Provide health coaching and information to facilitate lifestyle changes in order to enhance employee health and performance.

5. Provide international travel health and safety programs including immunizations, preventative health, safety, and medical resources where applicable.

6. Offer technical advice and consultation to mill/facility personnel regarding safety program compliance such as accident investigation reports, ergonomics, bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, injury and illness prevention, HazMat, Confined Space and other site-specific programs with an occupational and preventative health emphasis.

7. Communicate and collaborate with the Employee Health and Performance Occupational Health Consultant and Occupational Health Director by providing input for changes to occupational health and wellness policies, procedures and/or best practices.

Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Legally licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the applicable state (s). Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN-S) preferred. Certified Case Manager (CCM) or Case Manager (CM) and ANA certifications as appropriate. Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and audiometry (CAOHC approved) and successful completion of a NIOSH approved spirometry course required.
