I've been using a CT and recently purchased another whole unit to be a parts source since CTs are no longer in production. I saw one a handle bar controller go on Ebay for $200 while whole systems are in the $400 range. Additionally, whole systems are more widely available than the controller alone.
Not a terribly happy answer, but something to consider.
Just a point to consider, the handlebar controller function and capability is controlled by the chipset inside, not the color. If you want the latest and most functional, then 45.43 is the chipset you want, no matter the color or model (8001 or 8002) handlebar controller.
