I remember I had found a free software to take files from an iPod and put them on a PC.

You can just load Itunes , It works on PC,s or Macs / buy the appropriate cable ( best with charger /USB -fire-wire cable combined in a docking -stand ) .
I have both ,the only problem , it thinks its two accounts so . I haven't figured out how to combine both . I burn a CD and load to the other machine.

iTunes doesn't allow you to transfer from iPod to computer.

Download Winamp, it will most likely convert your mp3's to whatever you want. Also its great for playing music on your computer.
