Kappa's are power hungry - all Infinity for home or auto tend to be very inefficient speakers (thus need allot of juice). If you are running them on an OEM head unit - chances are you are killing the speakers - remember, two LITTLE power "blows" speakers, not to much power.

What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

Go to the Millenium Audio website. You'll see the Autotek Amps. The entry series level SS600.2 puts out a good 150watts@4ohms per channel. That's like 3 times more power than most amps made to drive mids put out. Like RC says power is everything. With these amps you can turn down the gain levels low and the sound reproduction will be delivered smooth and detailed with no effort. I don't know exactly how much they are in the USA, but they're really cheap, probably close to your $200 budget but can seriously out perform some amps costing up to 5 times as much.

Matched with other top end components I wouldn't even have any qualms about using these amps to build a Sound Quality Competition system.
