GoPro Hero5 session bike handlebar mount question
Quote | Reply
Just bought the camera, but I'm wondering if the GoPro brand bike mount will work on aerobar extensions, in terms of the camera being oriented the right way. I've never used a Session before so I don't know if the mounting mechanism on either the camera or the mount rotates. It looks like the bike mount is setup to operate only in line with the bike, i.e. on top of road bike bars.

Anybody used this setup before?

The sessions is an amazing device. I film exclusively with GoPro and love everything about them. Especially, the versatility. The handle bar mount IS able to swivel so it will probably work. However, if it doesn't there are a number of ways to attached the sessions how ever you want. It's so small and light you can mount it anywhere. I would recomend buying one of those "10 in one" gopro attachment packages on amazon, but pay for the nicer ones. Some are REALLY cheap and not worth it. Do some research on one that has the mounts your looking for (they are all different) and have some fun. They are amazing!

P.S. mounting on the handle bars creates ALOT of vibration. Even though the Hero 5+6 have EIS (electronic image stabilization) its not perfect. Maybe think of a helmet mount, or chest mount. One of the awesome things about GoPros is the size. They fit where no other camera does so have fun and get creative. Mount it under the pedel, or on the side of your water bottle!

Also, check out My video, “GoPro video of a lifetime” where I was airlifted to the ICU at the Xterra Tri in Laguna Beach went viral back in June 2015. https://www.youtube.com/...2HdXQkszM&t=145s

I have since fully recovered from my extensive injuries and created a YouTube channel about accomplishing insane BucketList type ideas and living life one thrill at a time. My channel allows viewers to submit video ideas and vote on them. The winning idea with the most votes is the next thrill I set out to conquer and film for everyone to enjoy. My goal is to allow people to temporarily escape from their daily lives and live vicariously through me while I accomplish things that most people are too afraid to do, but have always wanted to (i.e. skydive, bungee jump, swim with sharks, etc.)

Here is the link to my latest video. I hope you enjoy it!

I use this

https://k-edge.com/...rmin-sport-tt-mount/

and this

https://k-edge.com/...mbo-mount-interface/

for my cyclic fly12. i don't even use it for my garmin mount as the bta bottles are in the way but it works great for the camera.

I have to respectfully disagree here. Sure on a mountain bike with a rough trail surface you will get vibration with a handlebar mount, but the OP specifically asked about aerobar extensions so we can assume we are talking about paved roads.

I've made literally hundreds of GoPro videos over the past 5 years or so and 99% of the footage has been captured with handlebar mounts. As long as you use a solid metal mount like a K-Edge, Cycliq duo or of the other metal mount copies, you will get great footage. This video is just one example - I think our team had maybe 5 or 6 cameras running for this race, all bar-mounted, and there is no vibration.

I've used other cameras mounted to my aerobars with no issues (other than wind noise). And yes, we're talking paved roads in this case. Also confirmed the GP brand bike mount does swivel, so I'm good to go.
