Can I run Vision Trimax aluminum BB30 cranks in my 2011 P3
Quote | Reply
Have tried to research but unable to make sense of much of the lingo...Can I run this crankset on my P3? Is there an adapter bottom bracket that will work? Or is the spindle length simply too short for it to work? BTW, my frame is the English thread version....not the press in version. Thanks in advance for any help. Blessings

You would need something like this: http://www.whiteind.com/bsa I have no experience of them and they are reasonably expensive. The way I read their compatibility chart is the spindle length is accounted for. The main difference is the spindle diameter, a normal English threaded BB is too narrow for a BB30 crank. But these are the right diameter, which is kind of the whole point. Maybe look for some reviews, they may be fine but presumably to allow a wider diameter spindle there is less room for actual bearings. So the other option is to one time buy the right crank and then be buying normal (much cheaper) threaded cups from then on.

The general rule here is unfortunately 'no', but with some exception.

It really all depends on how long the spindle is. Some companies (including FSA/Vision) make a 'plus' size spindle that is long enough to fit. If this is the case, you can get a BSA to BB30 Bottom Bracket from Rotor to make it compatible (http://www.rotorbikeusa.com/..._bottom_bracket.html).

So, the next question; How long is your BB30 spindle? 30mm FSA cranks that are long enough usually also have a label like "BBright" or "EVO386" somewhere on the drive side crank arm.
