Cleaning up a Cervelo P3C...
Hi everyone,

First post here but i would like to share my story of how I acquired an older P3C on the cheap and what i have done to it so far. The bike came to me with the older vision alloy aerobars, while still quite aero i was looking for something adjustable to stack the extensions slightly if needed (and UCI legal). Found a pair of 3T Vola Team bars on sale at an extremely good deal, and while not the most adjustable they are more than enough for me. Found a Tririg Omega for the front brake, very hard to get here without paying some crazy price for shipping. Next, i was planning to route the deraliuer cables behind the stem through the top tube. I had found some good resources on here and elsewhere on the internet, but i ended up finding parts second hand for DI2 very cheaply. This way i was able to drill minimal holes in the frame. This was paired with a Profile Design Aeria Ultimate stem, which was a PITA to find here in AUS (distributor wouldn't let the LBS order one without buying the whole aerobar setup, then only in 70mm). This cleaned up the front end nicely and allowed junction box and cables to be routed through there. Battery was stored in seat tube with some foam insulation.

I was fortunate to have access to a 3d printer, so i made some angled risers for the Vola bars. Countersunk screws with spring washers underneath the bolt head hold it together, brings the pads up nicely at a 12 degree angle if i remember correctly. Future plans involve maybe a new fork if i can find one, would be bit more aero and a lot lighter than the wolf one on there now. I have a 1x narrow wide chainring in the pipeline, looking to get that sorted soon along with a custom aero chain guard to be extra sure. Essentially all things i purchased have been second hand, apart from the parts i have tried to make myself. Has been a good learning experience and has allowed me to have a great bike that fits me well and didnt break the bank. All UCI legal aswell expect for the seatpost so far

Very nice! The fork looks like the last major purchase. I think a P5-3 fork might work and I see those for sale from time to time.

The P5-3 Forks have a stop at the back to prevent infinite slew. I'm not sure it would work on a Frame without the corresponding groove.

Think the NP3 forks work, the p5-3 has a little alloy nub on the back to stop it the forks rotating around. But the p3 and p5-3 are exactly the same i'm fairly sure apart from that. Even the later P3C came with the Fk26 fork, its just proving a bit hard to find one at a decent price or in good condition.

Ya I don't remember the exact details of the P3 forks, but when the Specialized Transition came out I know Cervelo's answer to the aero arm's race was to revise the fork. I just can't remember whether your fork is the fix or the fork that wasn't that fast. My guess is that the correct fork is worth more than many of the other changes so make sure you find the best option.

Super nice bike you have built and there is something extra cool about kicking some butt on a budget build.

Thankyou! The fork upgrade is definitely on the cards along with a disc. Its been a great learning experience and has been fun to build something up. Have a TT this weekend to test it out with then Oceania Champs at the end of March, will be good to see what the bike and rider can do haha. Hopefully add some power between then and now, time will tell. Been using Aerolab on the local velodrome for some positional changes, but its hard to get good results without perfect weather. To get perfect weather it has to be super early in the morning or at 1am when there is no wind.
