You left out all the shit that makes no sense. But, hey, there's a rip in the space-time continuum or we're in a parallel dimension or something so random shit with no reason or explanation happens because the director thinks it's cool or sets the mood. The pay off is two seconds at the very end of the move that ostensibly ties the flick to Cloverfield.
