What is it with people that when they get a taste of power via a small non-profit Board of Directors presidency, they become power-hungry despots? Isn't the point to be able to create (or continue) an organization where everyone benefits from the work of the Board? Friendships have been lost, everyone is angry at everyone else, and for what? To have a title behind one's name?
I say let all of the Board members' children and grandchildren run the place, it would probably go much more smoothly.

I suspect the answer lies somewhere between taste of power and finding out what a pain in the ass it can be to manage people.
