I don't have any specific advice, I think I'll be going to Portugal this summer (my parents are from the very far north on the border) and will be trying quite hard to ride (might be tough, will be there with my 6 year old and my parents so mostly doing tourist stuff). Their village is at the base of the second highest peak in continental portugal and should be a good challenge.
