Haha good call on unzipping! I should just race all non-M-dot so I can ditch the crop top altogether.

I was thinking of stuffing the race number down the Speedo next time as a chamois :-).

And, yes, hydration is important in those last few meters! Notice what's missing from Chris Legh's outfit:

I remember that, it was painful to watch again. I think he almost died at that moment, they had to cut of several feet of colon after the race in the ER. I know of several athletes that paid for races with feet of colon, it gets kinked somewhere early and then just dies while they push through the pain. It really is life and death at that point, so for all of you that say you would rather die than not finish, well that could happen...

Yes, agreed it's painful to watch! I've had my share of struggles with hydration and I've pushed through some bad situations because I wanted to prove how tough (read: stupid) I am. But, as much as a DNF stings, it doesn't sting nearly as bad as ischemic colitis. So even if it hurts my pride, I've learned when to pull the plug.
