I get some pretty awesome wrong answers from college students.

A logistic function problem about the population of deer, gave a graph and asked "what's the limiting value?"
correct answer: as time goes to infinity, population levels off at 800 deer
answer: "the deer that die"

A question about elevation of a mountain (content was constant slope and rise-over-run... something like you start at 2800 feet and five miles later are at 4300 feet, how tall is mt if peak is 12 mi from your start point)
answer: - 1950 feet
yes... negative

What's the end behaviour of the polynomial x^271 + x^6 + 4x^2
answer: the end behaviour is positive because 271 + 6 + 2 is positive

I was thinking the limiting factor is the ratio of births to deer dying. This is what limited the Roman Empire. So two limiting factors on that life cycle.

A limiting value is a number. The deer that die are a factor, but the question is essentially asking "what's the limit of f(t) as t goes to infinity".
