Treading into new territory for 2018. Fullest season ever with 3 Oly and 1 70.3 from June 10 to August 15. Then, my first Ironman (Coz) in November. Up until now, I’ve based my training on the Friel books, and created an ATP in Training Peaks. That gives me the layout of the hours, and some guidance on the type of workouts.
Swimming: Currently the Guppy challenge (Tarpon yardage), which sets me until March. Then I’m strongly leaning toward getting David’s (Finding Freestyle) plan
Cycling: I have about 6-8 weeks left of the Zwift FTP builder plan. Honestly, I kinda like the Avatar thing, and it doesn’t bore me yet. However, I hear so much about TrainerRoad’s plans, that I intend to at least check them out.
Running: This part I can do. I’m going to use a BarryP style where I have 5 runs/week, in a 1:2:3 ratio. 2 x 30 min, 2 x 60, 1 x 90 at first.
Should I not over think it, and just keep laying down the hours? There are a million plans online, and I feel that the best one is the one you are consistent with. My CTL, as of today, is about 50.
