Could be. I don’t know what proof it is, but it’s got some bite.

Just checked my bottle: 127.7 proof.

It has bite, but not nearly as much as I thought it would. I was surprised by the smoothness to be honest. I can have it straight but prefer a cube in it.

Where are you picking these up? Washington State has the worst liquor stores in the country. I'm lucky to get my Buffalo Trace.

Traveling mostly. Got the Woodford from the Woodford distillery. Weller’s from a local place called Ray’s. Orphan from the Bulliet Distillery. Elijah Craig from a wholesale distributor in upstate NY.

That is scotch, which is ... nasty ....

High price certainly does not mean best quality. One of the absolute best bourbons out there is Eagle Rare 10 year. It retails for $24.99. I just picked up a bottle for $26.99. Unfortunately, those in the know, know about it and, as a result, it is very difficult to find.

Price is set more by availability than anything else. There are far, far cheaper bourbons that have scored higher than Pappy. It is the allure that make Pappy appealing.

Happy National Bourbon Day! I am heading to a local Irish pub for a tasting event around 3pm (sidebar - I agree that scotch is nasty) . Tomorrow is not going to be very productive at the office.

A good friend of mine has an ice cream business. He makes a bourbon, cornflakes and I think marshmallow ice cream. Im not a big ice cream guy, but it is absolutely delicious. The bourbon flavour is remarkable. I can throw down a pint of that like it's nobody's business.

I celebrated bourbon day with a Woodford reserve and cigar. Nice evening!

However, I knew Pappy wasn't going to happen. Or even BTAC. So I put in the work with a restaurant here and got all three batches of OF150. A lot of dinners that that place for the opportunity.

This is becoming very standard across the industry, you seem to have stores that reward their best customers err alcoholics with the chance to buy an allocated bottle, a raffle, or charging at secondary pricing. Costco raffled Old Forester Birthday Bourbon here in AZ at the Surprise location that just opened. You also don't have to buy anything to be a part of the allocated raffle. Fry's raffled their entire allocation last year, one of the three stores raffled off 10 cases of Blanton's...somehow I did not get drawn for even a Blanton's.



It is a very delicious bottle. I need to find a back up to the back up. Too bad Brown Forman sold it to Sazerac.


Ordering a copy. What annoyed me was the CBS segment that was done made to reference to the fact that it is a product of the Behemoth Buffalo Trace Distillery and Sazerac Company. Although I know the book actually pays special attention.

Washed up footy player turned Triathlete.

Pappy 12 year, Old Rip 10 year and 127 proof Bookers hit the shelf this morning.....

I finished this book tonight. This isn’t the book about a strict history of Pappy whiskey. If that is what you are looking for, you will be disappointed. Instead, it’s about the Van Winkle family, fathers and sons, family, the South, and yes, the whiskey. I loved it.

I have never had a bottle of my own. However, my neighbor is the Midwest boss for a large beer co. He has the ultimate booze collection. I watched the
Last game of the2015 WS on his back deck party porch and as it appeared the Royals might win he broke out the first bottle of Pappy. That morphed to a second bottle of papi and a couple bottles of very expensive wine.

I’m just going to leave the drunk syntax and punctuation.

And that would be an excellent reason to break it out!
