Fake news. The Americans started slavery. Protected classes continue to be exploited, here in the US, to such a degree that for all practical purposes slavery still exists. It's probably the CIA and American corporations that are running the slave trade today in N. Africa. As lackeys of the Jews, of course.

This is actually true except the slaves here are primarily Mexicans who are disincentivized to become full US citizens, discouraged to assimilate (mainly by discouraging them from learning English) so that they can easily exploited for their labor.

And in some cases where they are boarded in employer provided housing (which they have to pay for) and shop at employer owned markets when they cash out at the end of the week they end up with zero. Complainers get deported (or worse).

Slavery indeed.

That's exactly what Libya is using as an argument. They're saying that since Trump has declared CNN fake news then the CNN slavery report is also fake. Thanks Trump.

The Mexicans are no better than the Jews. The Mexicans, near as I can tell, work their asses off and they are pretty determined that their kids take advantage of education and opportunity. They only do it to make others look bad.

Hold it there, Hoss. Are we sure these slave traders are not white-Libyans or white-Arabs or white-Africans or white-something? Surely there is a way for the CNN to blame Whitey for this in one or another.

Yup. Apparently there are more people in slavery today than at any time in the history of the world. It's more likely than not that every single one of us in the States wears clothing made by slaves, eats chocolate from cocoa picked by slaves, uses something manufactured from slave labor, or something else we don't realize comes from terrible roots. And as you pointed out with farm labor, some of it happening right under our noses on our soil.

One of the things that caught my attention in the article is that, in the context of "lots of slaves in Africa today" the article attempts to attach some blame on European colonialism. That seems kind of a stretch.
