Anyone else been watching this HBO series. All about hookers, pimps, porn, peep shows, crooked cops, graft and Mafia around 42nd St. in the early 1970's. Amazing how sleazy that part of NYC was back then. I remember visiting that area at the time in my early 20's when my older cousin was living in NYC. Her ex husband was a native NYC' er who had grown up in the Bronx and knew the city like the back of his hand. He wanted to show me the "real New York". Was down right scary back then but a fascinating visit for naive college kid studying psychology. Typical well down HBO series. Getting addicted to it.

Last night I watched the season 1 finale. Yes, a very interesting series, and even my wife has enjoyed it.. Even though there's lots of nudity and sex, there is very little eroticism in this show, just the hard edge reality of the skin trade.
But please tell if I'm wrong, did every adult in that era in that area chain smoke? it's the only part of it that I hate. Occasional or moderate smoking is ok, but the constant smoking by every participant seems to be the product placement more than anything else.
Bring on season 2 in 2018.

It sure seemed like it, at least in almost every bar or restaurant at the time.

yes, they did. The wife's family is from NJ, and it seemed all of them smoked, even while sucking on O2.
Just found this series on HBO recently and finished Season 1. Pretty damn good and solidly filmed, acted, written and produced.
I started watching it because I saw trailers for Season 2 to be released soon.
I'd say if you watched and liked Vinyl on HBO, you'd like this. Same vibe and era. Too bad Vinyl was not renewed, it was great.
