Hi,

I have an opportunity to ride SD to SF along the coast in February. Maybe not the ideal direction (S -> N vs N -> S) and time of year, but I have the free pass from my SO. While doing some research I learned that a stretch of hwy remains closed near Big Sur from the mudslides earlier this year.

Is anyone familiar with the salmon creek trail Could I use it as a detour to get around the mudslide while riding on a road bike with 28’s and some extra weight for hauling gear with me?

Should I just ride inland from SLO to Monterey or bag the whole idea and wait for a future date when the hwy opens back up?
