After the Harvey Weinstein scandal engulfed Hollywood last week, now politicians in Brussels say there is a problem at the heart of the European Union too.
More than a dozen women accused politicians of groping, stalking, harassment, and treating them like meat, a Sunday Times investigation revealed.
One assistant revealed that a senior MEP masturbated in front of a young assistant, and another aide told of how they were groped.
And one said how a leading German MEP "stalked her" in meetings and made repeated advances towards her.
She said that the parliament is "an absolute hotbed of harassment", because MEPs are "not accountable to anyone"."

Seems all this foolishness in the EU Parliament may be pretty widespread, too. Politico Europe has so far turned up 87 women and six men who are willing to file formal complaints.
"Allegations made to Playbook include EU work contracts offered in exchange for sex, young women being sent to bars and dinners to trade sexual favors for legislative ones, a staffer asked to book prostitutes for their MEP boss, women bailed up in toilets at work functions, and men bullied, then sent on paid leave.

Jeanne Ponte, a prize-winning College of Europe student from France who became an assistant at the European Parliament for the center-left MEP Edouard Martin, told Le Figaro she has collected 50 instances of inappropriate behavior including "a political adviser who sent me in the middle of the night photos of me, taken without my knowledge.""
