Bont Cycling Shoes - How to Get in US
I love my Bont Vaypor S Cycling shoes, but I scraped the right shoe all to pieces in a bike wreck last year. I was on their website this week to order a replacement pair and noticed that using their Where to Purchase tab took me to a German hosted site (I'm in the US). I thought I should email them first to check the legitimacy and I got a quick response but the English was a little broken and took me right back to the original shop.bontcycling.com website.

Does anyone have the same experience and had success completing the order? Just hoping all is legit before I throw $400 for a pair of shoes.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,

i ordered some small parts for my zero's off of Bont's site earlier this year. Besides shipping charges being a little steep, it all arrived fine.

I ordered mine through a local bike shop here in Seattle that was a dealer for them and had a few pairs for me to try on to get the sizing right, so you might look for a similar arrangement where you are.

I ordered a pair (to the US) from the Bont webshop online. They were on sale and a great price. It took about 2-3 weeks to get them, but easy and well worth it!

Just a reply to all in general.

I went ahead and ordered and all came out great, in short. For anyone that wants to know how it went down:

- I ordered off the Online store on Bont's website. It took me to a German website (I'm guessing: xxxx.de). This concerned me so......
- I emailed Bont to see if it was legit. I got a quick reply, but from someone in China. A little mixture of concern but seemed legit enough to proceed at least up to method of payment. So I probed further.
- Only method of payment available was PayPal. Ok, I trust them, so I pressed on.
- Immediately was sent to Paypal's site which I knew to be legit.
- As someone mentioned earlier, shipping was $25. No biggie but I guess if you're ordering a small replacement part that could be steep.
- Shoes arrived in 5 business days. And they did come from China, with a stop in Honolulu. FedEx tracking was emailed the moment they were sent which was comforting.
- They did mark that I had to sign for them. I signed online thru the FedEx app to bypass that little problem, since I actually have to go to work for a living.
- I would have preferred them to be packaged in something more than just the original Bont cardboard shoe box, but no harm done.

So, overall a great experience if anyone else questions the process! Thanks for the help, tri peeps!

I did the same thing a few months ago, and the shoe they sent was 5mm shorter than they said it was. They wanted me to ship back to them on my dime, and then to pay another $25 to ship a new pair back. This is after I had to pay $25 for the first pair. If you take the 3 shipping fees they added up to another pair of shoes (since they were on sale). They did not even want to admit that it was a manufacturing issue, which it obviously was either in that it was labeled as the wrong size or they made them smaller than they were supposed to be.

I really wanted the pair for 2 reasons:
1) The have a wider forefoot which I really need to get.
2) The Neon Yellow would have matched my bike.

I will say that I will steer anybody away from ordering from them (store would be ok, since you can try on, but none around me).

Luckily I found a guy that the shoes fit perfectly (happened to be my coach), so I gave them to him as part of my training fees.

Yes, I had the same issue with sizing but they didn't send me the "wrong" size. I used their protocol for sizing and ordered accordingly, which ended up being too small when they arrived. So, I went went up a size but had to deal with eat both the return costs and their shipping costs and wait another month to get them. I had a friend have the same experience...so be forewarned that they run small.

I scoured the internets for weeks looking for a gently used pair of Bont zero + when I came across a small store in the UK that had a new pair in stock for ~$250 USD. I sent a message and asked if they could ship internationally as it wasn't an option listed. They did and I won the internet that day.

Yeah I followed their protocol, but then verified by the actual length they say the footbed is, due to that I went up a half size from what they said I should have, so that I would have even more toe room (Still probably close to a full size too short). Let's just say they did send the right size. My opinion is that they lied in the documentation on what the actual length of the shoe is, since it was that much shorter (Basically a full size) than what they specified. If all their shoes are 5mm short of what they state then the real length they state should be 5mm less than what they currently say.

Like I said luckily I found a person that could use and wanted them, because there was no way I was spending another $50 on shipping and not even being guaranteed that the next shoes would fit right either.

If it helps anyone else I am a 45.5 in Sidi and Shimano which I own a set of both and the Bont website said I would be a 46.5 so I ordered and thought may be slightly large but fitted ok. Later I tried a 46 in a store and was too small so the website for suggested sizing was correct.

I'll add the the chorus of "Bont shoes are short".

Ordered some (Riot TR) in a 44 (my normal size). Way too tight on the toes. Luckily sold them on two days later at no loss. But pissed because it was the last pair they had, at a bargain price.

The side of the box said EU44 = US10. The bottom of the box said EU44 = US9.5.

I have heard that their "mm" size is actually the size of the last they use.

If you're looking for a seller, bikebug.com is genuine and has some. A couple of sizes of Riot TRs left at runout prices. Not sure what shipping to USA is though. https://www.bikebug.com/...8.html?filter_id=247

That's correct. There used to be fine print saying that once you've established your size with their "fit wizard" you should go up half a size but that seems to be missing.

Bont: great shoes, iffy customer service in my experience.

I used the online foot measurement page more than once. I was not entirely sure of the size I truly needed, but I don't typically like super tight cycling shoes. I ended up going one full size larger than all my other cycling shoes (from a 43 in everything to a 44). It ended up being pretty spot on for me.

I'm glad everything ended up working out for you (sort of).

Anybody know of a source for Boa dials and laces? I have struck out with both Boa and Bont.

Thanks!

However, I misspoke: my Bont shoes have atop dials.

Bont points to atop; atop doesn't respond to queries...'tis sad that I am going to have to replace some otherwise perfectly good shoes for lack of small replacement parts!

i have a new pair of size 46. they're lime green. they have the name of a pro cyclist on the heel (the cyclist these shoes were meant for and owned by. never used. i got them in a swap for other stuff. i had the opposite problem: in this show i'm a 47. so, if you need, i have them pretty inexpensively.
