Awww, no hard feelings! To be fair the arguments both for and against weight training for endurance athletes can be compelling. I've gone back and forth.

Hard to say since lots of different things can cause back discomfort. Tentatively, I'd say stretching/rolling since it sounds like it's the process of strengthening causing the soreness.
