This thread kind of proves that out, doesn't it?

I've kinda grown to realize that triathletes just really aren't that fun (as a group), anyways.

What's to be sorry for?
I find myself pretty fun at parties. But, I doubt anyone else agrees.
I'm not even sure why Sean's post was pink. ???

It depends on the race. Most seem to be in the $25-$40 range if you sign up in advance. Barry is bigger and charges a whopping $55. Races like the upcoming Michigan Coast 2 Coast and Dirty Kanza are closer to $140.
I'm actually looking forward to next year. Instead of spending $700 on one race I can spend it on a dozen.

Shout out to American Zofingen post race Scooby snacks! As a humble BOP short distance guy, I get to sit in a chair in the pavilion and shovel burgers, cornbread, salads, etc into my pie hole whilst ringing a cowbell for the mid and long distances buffoons shuffling through said pavillion on God only knows what lap. Some knuckleheads take a shot of whiskey as they head out for yet another 5-mile trail run towards the end. Great camaraderie and GREAT food.....at a great price.
I don't think the answer is with the race director or any extra amenities they could provide. When we show up to a CX race, it's pretty much bring your own stuff. We haul out the tent, portable grill, cooler, etc. But the thing is. . . most everyone is part of a team. And notice I said 'we.' Teammates train together, they are friends. Friends hang out with friends. Strangers don't hang out with strangers.
Triathlon is a lonely sport for most people. I didn't hang out at races b/c there was no one to hang out with. And that's partly why I lost interest in it.
