Hoping to avoid hard time, disgraced former New York congressman and serial sexter Anthony Weiner is due in court today to receive punishment for sexting with a 15-year-old girl.
Seeking a severe flogging for Weiner, federal prosecutors have filed for a minimum two-year incarceration in federal PMITA prison for a member of Congress who'd once harbored aspirations to the presidency in the fullness of time.
If he's indeed sentenced to incarceration it's unknown if Mr. Weiner's entry into prison will be delayed pending any appeals or if Weiner will immediately enter the joint upon receiving the stiffest punishment requested by prosecutors.
All is not hopeless, however, as Weiner could also walk and receive gentle treatment at the hands of the law in the form of probation, house arrest and counseling. Certainly, his attorneys are hoping that Mr. Weiner is looked upon kindly and spared rough treatment.
Weiner due in court for sentencing in sexting scandal
"The former New York congressman faces up to 27 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to one charge of transferring obscene material to a minor. Prosecutors say he broke the law by having illicit contact with a 15-year-old girl, including asking her to “sexually perform” for him in conversations on Skype and Snapchat."
"Politics is just show business for ugly people."
