Question about bike mechanics
I'm taking my Shiv in for a tune up prior to IMChoo. I normally take it to my local Specialized shop across town before a big race for a thorough once over. They're a little booked up and while I can get in, I'll be without bike for a little longer than I'd like.

There's another bike shop near my house that I really like. These guys are Gravel guys. They sell Kona, All City, etc type of bikes. Is there any reason you would not truck them to tune my tri bike? I really like them and they are good guys and love visiting them for my gravel stuff. But I feel like a tri bike is a martian to them. At the same time, I don't need them to fit me or anything, just tune it up. Would you let a shop like that tune your bike? I think maybe I'm being a little too protective.

What needs to be tuned?

The parts that anyone would adjust are pretty much the same across all types of bikes. And by "same," for most, they are identical. The only thing that really makes a tri bike unique is the frame design and handle bars. But, there is no need to touch any of that for a routine tune-up. I would take it where the mechanic actually seems knowledgeable and passionate about great service. Avoid the morons, even if they are claimed specialists in your brand or type of bike.
