Thanks for getting us started Dr. Tigerchik -- good work getting your goals, congratulations on your race, and thanks!
SallyShortyPnts, I am so sorry about your bike. Bike thieves are monsters.
Scheherazade, good luck easing back into training and thanks.
(p.s. I'm with Midtown Miles, teachers are special, patient people -- thanks for what you do!
edbikebabe, glad you had a good trip -- good luck this weekend!
Like SLO, my week culminated in a 70.3, my goals for the week were:
Quote:
I'm feeling tired but okay. I am happy to have a nice taper with 2 easy runs, 2 easy bikes, 1 or 2 swims (depending on elbow), and hopefully 2 sessions of yoga. I'll be better about my p/rehab too.
I did all of the above, took it very easy, and was diligent about my p/rehab -- the tired feeling remained but my 70.3 went well. As SLO mentioned, our swim was shortened/delayed due to dense fog. We were all warmed up and then stood around on the beach for ninety minutes getting hungry and antsy -- some people are all worked up but I think the race did a good job of handling a tough situation. The bike was a cool and overcast coastal ride with a tailwind on the way out and a headwind on the way back. I had a solid bike -- I felt comfortable on my tri bike and staying mostly aero. I was glad to see SLO on the course -- she was strong and smiley (Go Womens Go!) A delayed start meant the run was under the heat of the day -- I'd hoped for a much faster run split but the heat got the better of me and I went with a more comfortable pace and just tried to hang on. I finished 4th in my AG. I know a short swim helped me and that the big dogs were in Chattanooga but it was still fun to stand on a WTC podium and get a plaque. I am very happy with my progress this year and was proud of my race.
I don't have anything else on my calendar in 2017 and honestly I really know what I'm going to do next. I'm open to suggestions for temperate Oly and 70.3 races...
This week I'm going to do yoga, maybe some easy s/b/r movement, and probably a little climbing -- if I feel good, I'll strength train too.
I hope everyone has a great week of training!
