History of Clydesdale Triathlon racing

With the passing of Les McDonald, I've been trying to remember some of the more esoteric things the ITU Tried that didn't work. Clydesdale was one of them.

There were Clydesdale exhibition waves at the 2001(edmonton)/2002(cancun) ITU World Championships. I raced both because I could.

In Cancun, there was discussion about a 2003 world championships category that would be officially recognized, it never came about, as I recall, because the ITU demanded that the clydesdale org affiliated to the ITU in the same way NGB's do for countries and the NGB's/countries were objecting, and the Clydesdale org couldn't afford the affiliation.

I recall an American or Canadian was leading the effort to get recognised, but can't remember who that was, or what the organization was formally called. Anyone recall any details, names, places etc.
