Doesn't affect me whatsoever.

They use of the LCBO and the limited amount of retail outlets should be revisited. 150 stores across the entire province isn't nearly enough to curb the illegal distribution. Additionally, imo the retail outlets should be privatized not government controlled.

I'm undecided on the mail order idea.

Some good ideas. But too few outlets to kill the blackmarket. Some private licenced shops would be a good idea.

Agreed. Way, way, way too few outlets. The number should be approximately the same as liquor stores and they should be placed in throughout the province. If it was private, then business owners could decided if a certain community was a viable market.

I don't know how I feel about it, on one hand it's a dream come true, on the other hand it looks like the Government is going to control the whole thing, which means we can't cash in on it, hopefully private growers will be allowed and we can invest in them, there's serious money to be made and the Government had better not shut us out or the whole thing could back fire. At least I'll be able to grow my own for personal use.

Did some more reading, Ontario will not be legalizing any dispensaries putting them all out of business, this is not going to end well, you can guarantee Wynne is going to have a fight on her hands.

I did some more reading as well.

Looks like Wynn and co are doing their best to screw this up. Only going to open 40 stores next year for a population of 14 million people? Run by unionized employees. And shut down current dispensaries.

Wtf are they thinking? They really have no clue, no clue at all. There is no way they will be able to keep up with demand. So marijuana will be legal and social acceptance and legal use will increase. But they're going out of their way to ensure that it's not readily available. This will only increase the black market, not decrease it.

At least you'll be able to grow your own.

Wynn is an idiot. Glad I don't live in Ontario.

Maybe government distribution has an upside.

I don't think that the government is bad at everything.

But the government is certainly bad at making things "cool."
Or conversely - the government is good at making stuff "uncool."

Nothing would do a better job taking the glamor and excitement out of weed than......
Waiting 3 hrs in a line with a bunch of
fat, stoned, losers- for your government ration of low quality weed.

The most you wait is a few minutes. The selection is the best in the world. Only drawback is when the stores are closed you are out of luck.

I am glad they are going to have separate outlets for dope and booze. My prediction that once they legalize MJ they will move more aggressively to shut down illegal sales is coming true. If there is something the gov't wants more than anything else it is money. As others have said 150 stores is not anywhere near enough to cover the province. One store per 90000 people. Towns with 50K people won't have an outlet. It will also be expensive. I don't see the illegal market going away anytime soon.
