Hip flexor pain when swimming.
I get a bit pain in my left hip flexor when I'm swimming. Especially if I'm down flip turns.

I have no pain running or cycling.
Anyone else experienced something similar?
Any fix? Stretch?

hyperextension of the lower back. that curve in your lowerback that become too big and but additional tension on hip flexor.

the fix....learning proper body position. Stomach in..... neutral spin, push with the chest down. it s not a simple fix, but if you can improve swim form.... it will releave the hip flexor...and you will also swim faster...

Do you have any suggestion how to learn/implement a better body position concretely? If the hipflexors are very tight from cycling, running, and sitting at a desk all day, it is extremely difficult to get that neutral spine position. where would you start? Out of the water exercises?

Interesting enough I get it in one hip as well when doing long intervals.

I find that when I breathe to both sides it goes away so I think it's a body position thing with me.

I don't have a fix but when I breathe to the opposite side once per lap on short course or every 4 or 5 breaths on long course it doesn't happen.

I was just wondering about this yesterday. Thanks to all for the insights.

It's often the first place I feel fatigue in longer swims, particularly in cold water. eg 3 to 7 miles in 65*F water.

Definitely not as flexible as I used to be. When I ran a lot, I was conscientious about working on my flexibility. Maybe it's time to get back to some regular stretching.

Lunge stretch followed by glute bridge hold 30 sec double leg 15 sec single leg.

Reverse lunges

Opposite arm opposite leg exercise
